I just purchased a BRNO double square bridge, small ring, halfstock with double set triggers and a "butterknife" bolt handle with a schnabel and banded front sling swivel chambered in 8x60S. Are there any clues as to when these are made? I was trying to find a data base of sn's or something. There is a small 50 near the proofmarks could this be a year?

Welcome back fnuser. Good to see you are still around.

But I can't help you on this one.

There is bound to be a BRNO enthusiasts group/forum out there mate. Those guys usually have access to manufacture dates by s/n etc. Maybe have a look through the various rifle shooting forums, they often have sections by make. Good luck.

Is the dia. .318 or .323? I like the caliber (just looked it up) between a .308 and a 300 win. magnum in a photo on Wikipedia, looks like it packs a punch slightly more powerful than the 8x57 and flatter trajectory. Looks like you found your mfg. information. Nice looking rifle too!

I'm glad you asked this Suz. I had assumed since it was marked 8x60s on the chamber it was a .323 groove dia. But looking around show that there are 8x60J bores as well. So I went ahead and slugged the barrel. It is a .323, but now I'll never doubt.
