Got up on this young grizz early this summer. Even though he wasn't all that big yet, one does still keep a close eye on him. This pic was taken about 20 miles North of my house. My faithful dog and I were a foot when we got up on it. We had no were to go, so just took a few pics of him. Very Happy

Damn...I've missed your pics Moose. That has to be one of the clearest and best pics of a bear I think I've ever seen mate.

Is he still dangerous at that size and age, or is he still have the wariness of a cub?

Thanks Vince. I pretty much have respect for any bear in the woods. I have never had a bad experience with one, and I strive to keep it that way. This one never did see or smell us, though he got within 40 yards of us. I was pretty happy when he turned and went the other direction from us. He was out rooting and basically worked his way up to us.

great photo....and you can keep them big hairy critters over there thankyou very much.........I fear it would be shoot first n ask questions later if they got grumpy around me.

Id rather deal with that bear then your snakes and such.

That cub looks a bit grumpy.

I do have to agree. Snakes and such some of my least favorite critters to encounter. This young bear is probably a little grumpy and hungry, since now he has to fend for himself.

yip a full on days hunting and the injuries I sustain are all done by vegetation, poked/speared by Spaniards, rip and torn by bush lawyer,shins bruised from fallen logs hiding under the crown fern and don't get me started on that plurry gorse......why the Poms couldn't just build a fence like everyone else I don't know....

Ah yes...Gorse...Know it well. Grows profusely on the Oregon Coast, mostly in Bandon, Oregon.

Years ago my grandmother was having problems with kids taking shortcuts across her flower beds when she lived in Salem, Oregon. My brother planted gorse along the the sidewalk next to her flower beds. After a few flat tires the shortcutting stop.

Build a fence? Nawww...My brother and I have evil minds and a bit sadistic to boot.

I don't care how old the bear is I steer clear. Had two encounters was lucky both times, never have a gun when you need one.
