The local gun shop has a sporterized Krag with a nice bore and nearly all the bluing worn off the exterior metal. The hang tag price was a bit too high for serious consideration. Then I was in another shop and saw a nicely sporterized Krag. Someone did a lot of expensive work on it . The action sits in a deluxe maple stock with rosewood end cap and pistol grip cap, was professional reblued and has a jeweled bolt. The surprises were a side scope mount holding a vintage Weaver K4 scope, a perfect bore and a very low price. Seems the locals do not fancy Krags very much. As you may have guessed, it came home with me. All the best...

I think I am going to have to join you in PA. Around here they want a fortune for any vintage gun if you can find one. Enjoy your Krag, they are nice shooters.
