Gee George....I reckon I'm as old as most of them.....but no problems...here goes:
Hey 'Mitri young mate. The saying A Rose Amongst the Thorns or A Rose Between Two Thorns is an old saying that refers to something or someone that is quite attractive, or pretty, (A Rose) between a couple of things or other people that are most unpleasant to look at, or ugly, (The Thorns).
Hence, when 1895ss started the thread by saying A Rose Amongst the Thorns......then said to have a look where Dallan is on the Home Page, he was referring to the fact that where the pics and stats for "Posts" are of the top 5 members, Dallan (The Rose or attractive pretty thing) is situated between Bushy and himself (The Thorns or unattractive, unpleasant to look at ugly things).
Sorry Bushy and 1895essess, its the only way to describe it.
So now its official......Dallan is attractive and pretty.....I know cause 1895ss said so at the start of this thread. I'm sure that Dallan's family agrees with this though.
Cheers, Vince

Dallan...If you were to discribe yourself. What kind (specious) of rose would you be. (Portland Red, varigated, hybrid, thornless, etc,etc)...

I pass 10ring and 'Mitri a tissue
I say wipe off the tear and be of good cheer
1895 isn't meaning to 'dis' you!

Dear Vince... thank you so much and hey tracker.... maybe you guys can tell me. Should I be upset or honored? I was just doing a search on a poetry form. I like to study the diciplines of form poetry sometimes. Anyway, there, on a search page was the URL to a website I had posted a poem to. As an example of their site and forms, the title of a poem jumped out at me... it's one of MINE. They had listed one of my English Sonnets as an example of that form on their site. Someone had to choose that particular poem as exemplary of their site. I'm honored by that, but you think they'd at least have sent a short note of thanks or something. (Not asking for money, I've never sold or published anything).
I did post the poem there, in accordance with their site rules. If you follow the link, it does go to a page where my poem is posted under my username (4rum) giving me credit I guess. It was just a shock to see the title of my poem in a URL.
