yeah you guys over there are backwards folks!! haha i noticed that, the snakes you have the nastier the bite they have the more, well for lack of a better word, more hose like, no real noticable jawline.. and i cant remember right now the one just has a crappy additude, will bite you just because it can!!
the wife wanted to do a vacation down there, so we were looking into it, and i caught a program about it on a nature show, the guy says "ok we are in the city" you get up and slip on your shoes, bang your dead. this spider here loves shoes.. then he says ok you shook them out.. you go out to do some gardening, ahh you remember to shake the gloves out too.. grab your little shovel and bang yer dead, he holds up the shovel and in the little spot on the handle you hang it from was hiding another little spider.. I looked at the wife and said so when are you going on vacation!! i used to go around to schools with the different snakes and stuff, i would always time it right with holding the 17 footer around my neck big and brutish, then tell the kids i am afraid of itty bitty spiders!!

Best philosophy... treat all snakes as if they are loaded!

needed said twice on that one!!! and some people think snakes dont have additudes, well they all do, and it is just different degrees of BAD! i had one at 14 foot i would let my kids open the tank and get him out and walk off with no problem. then i had a six footer i would put welding gloves and get the hook out for!! the big girl i had she bit me 3 times, all at feeding times, once struck drew blood, second time she just nipped me, not even blood, then at about 15 foot, she nailed me in the thumb, tried to wrap so i grabbed for the neck, and she handcuffed me, took the wife and two other friends to help remove her, ended up with dislocated thumb, and 49 holes in the fleshy muscle of the thumb!! if i can find the pictures i will up them..

Gidday Morax. Yes mate, we have most of the most venomous in the world here....but they aren't a problem. If you don't touch them and give them a wide berth you don't have any problems with them. Although you are right about the one(s) that will bite you cause they can. There are a couple that will do that....the Tiger snake, Taipan and the King Brown, although the Tiger is the worst.....and to make matters worse he is about the most poisonous snake in the world.

You shouldn't let the thought of venomous snakes and spiders put you off visiting Australia. The chances of you encountering them is very remote.

Cheers, Vince

Nasty spiders....yep got a few of them too. Very Happy The worst one by far is the Funnel Web, and surprisingly its the male who is the most venomous. We had quite a few deaths from them until about 10 yrs ago when they were able to develop an antivenene. The othe nasties we have are the Mouse Spider and the Redback spider. The Mouse Spider is pretty timid and you don't much come in contact with them, but the Redback is a different story. They are related to your Black Widow spider and I would kill maybe a dozen or more over Summer....and thats only the ones I see!!

Cheers, Vince
