I'm almost embarrassed to admit that out of 21 rifles I don't even own a .22 rimfire anmore. I got so much into range shooting and long range varminting that for some years I really neglected the .22s. I'd like to get one, but I want it to be an accurate bolt model, maybe an Anchutz, but they are so darned expensive. I guess I'll just keep looking. Best wishes.

You guys are all youngsters.
Classic 22's to my age group is Win 52, Rem 37, Savage 29, Rem 12, Win61, 62 or 63. Of course the Mossbergs are in there but if you could afford one you had a Winchester or Remington. I just bought a Win 62 in great shape and I can't wait to try it.
My 52a used a few years ago in a benchmark trial of ammo in the 10/22. It shot as good with irons as the Ruger did with a scope. I have a Savage 29 that will group in under an inch at 50yds with an old Weaver G3 and it's all steel with a forged receiver,
These are "classic 22 's". Of course you have to add the Marlin 39. That is on everone's list.
My favorite though is the BRNO #1.
