A friend of mine just sold me a S&W Model 1500 in .243 win. and was wondering if anyone has ever had one or knows much about them. I paid $300.00 for it with a scope. Not sure what brand the scope is. The gun used to be his fathers and had only put a few boxes of shells through it. Was this a good deal?

I believe the 1500 was made by Howa for Smith and Wesson so it should be a good shooter.

"I believe the 1500 was made by Howa..."

You have a good one there. I used to have a 22/250 with a heavy barrel a long time ago - should never have sold it.
They were imported into Australia between being a S&W and Howa by Commercial Marketing and were CMC Mountaineers.
The Weatherby Vanguard is also the same animal with a different name.
Bit of useless info Very Happy
