The biggest mistake the hierarchy ever made is to allow the embedding of journalists into military units and sub-units.

It has created absolute mayhem for the military leaders...the REAL ones who have "hands on control" of the soldiers.

Now, not only do soldiers have to do their job, and support their mates, they have to look out for the damn journalists who have no military training and don't give a damn about anything but their "story". These morons often deliberately put themselves in the line of fire, compromise the mission

If a soldier is killed in the line of duty...it is portrayed as a bad thing, but acceptable because of the nature of their duties. Let the same thing happen to a journalist and watch the sh1te hit the fan. Not only are the "bad guys" to blame, but the military unit / sub-unit the journalist was moving with are harangued and blamed for allowing the journalist to become a casualty.

Use the bloody lot of them as mine detectors I say!!!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Cheers, Vince

Good points Vince and I agree mine detectors would be a fine job for them Very Happy

Sniper bait. Most journalist don't realize the danger they are in let a lone the danger they place the soldiers in. The public has no business seeing how a military unit operates. If they really need to see they can sign the dotted line.

wtf That means they'd have to pick up a weapon and use it!!! Don't you know guns are bad??? Oh that's right.... it's ok when a soldier has to save their a$$!!!

You said it brother.
Agree with all of you, wiersy111 just put it in words real well.

I made a similar statement within earshot of a reporter, which resulted in a LT Colonel handing me my a$$. Oh well I always have had a problem with making my opinion known.

Take thier cameras away from them, hand them a rifle and tell them if they want a "story" they need to experience the action first hand so that they can get it right.

Sort of makes you wonder...look at Korea, Viet Nam, and the first war games in the sandbox. Gen. Schwarzkopf said they stopped him three days too soon, and they fired him! Shocked You really want to screw things up, it takes a computer, or politicians running the show!

Convicting Border Patrol officers for doing their duty, and shooting a dirtbag as a result? Trying serving officers and enlisted men for following orders? Mad (And no, It isn't the same as Nazi Germany in the days of Hitler and his Merrie Men)

The emperor has no clothes?? Embarassed Very Happy

I am concerned about the things some agencies are now allowed to do in the holy name of Homeland Security, but what's the alternative?
