A friend here is interested in a Stevens Model 200 chambered in .25-06 and is seeking info/opinions on both. I told him I knew just where to ask! Any help will be appreciated.

The Stevens is considered to be an "entry level" to the Savage line. there isn't anything wrong with them, just not as many frills. They are good, sound guns and can be expected to be as accurate as any of the mainline Savage offerings; which is to say, excellent.

As to the .25-06...any cartridge based on the old '06 case seems to perform well. Granted, the .25-06 is thought to be approaching "over-bore" status, but it is hard to dispute its record on pronghorn and other medium sized game. With lighter bullets and proper loading it also makes an exceptional varminter too.

If you can't hit it with one, you probably can't with two either!

The biggest problem with a closed mind is that it never seems to come with a closed mouth.
