Well Farrier...I just fired my farrier for lack of concideration when not coming out to shoe...He never calls and I'm left,so to speak, holding the lead rope...That don't make it with me...

If you are in the right area of Missouri (Ozarks) you might have a new customer as I should be out there in 1 or 2 years...You call when you're not going to make it??? wtf

Groovyjack...Why would you want to restrain yourself? Oh...That's right... You have to because you're the moderator...Too bad... Very Happy

Farrier...If you or your dog are on my property without my permision...You are trespassing...No one should be so arrigent as to think that a hunting license is a ticket to be on others land without the land owner knowing...If you wound the game and it comes on to private property you are obligated to request permision of the land owner to recover said game...Yes...If I know the dogs owner I will imform him about his dog...And at the same time let him know that if it haqppens again I will notify the Sherrif (In Mountain Grove his name is Bubba if he won the election. I know because I was there lookin' over the land). The third time...Dead dog...

Hey Bush Yeah I call if an act of God keeps me from showing up or if I got a little behind earlier in the day with an extra horse or something.

I don't think that a hunting licence gives a person the right to trespass if I implied that notion. I coon hunt my dog, on my property and on property that I have permission to hunt on.

Bush .... what do you think the best thing for a person to do is if their dog chases a coon across the fence and trees the coon 30 yards away where the person doesn't have permission to hunt at two or three in the mourning, and you don't know who ownes the place or where they live?

I pass a lot of shots up because it might be a bad hit even though I am pretty sure The deer will eventually go down...The coon 30 feet on the other side of the fence means you will have another day to hunt that particular coon...The hunt is 75% on the fun or more...

You can't call your dog back? You don't have control of your dog? I have the greatest time when hunting pheasant with my son in eastern Washington. He has a black lab trained as a general gun dog. Another words the dog is trained for water foul to quail. From grouse to squirels. You shoot it and Harley will go get and bring it back...I'll bet he would try to drag my deer back if he could. My son has absolute control over this 5 year old. By whistles and hand sign...It's fun and a joy to watch. It's like watching a well rehearsed dance. Now on the other hand I have hunted with other bird hunters that their dog does more for me by accident because the owner can't control his dog. The dog ends up hunting with me...Is this your problem???If you have to hunt(?) with dogs you must have absolute control...(The question mark (?) is because I don't believe that hunting anything other then game birds with a dog is hunting)...

How ya doin' thar Farrier...Still with me??? Very Happy

Yeah Bushy... I'm still with ya Very Happy just what do you have against coon hunting? No, my dog don't listen very good at all when he is trying to climb a tree to get to a coon that he can smell or maybe even see, he hates those things and that is the way I want him to be, hate them, that way he will want to find them for me to shoot out.

Nothing against coon hunting...Have shot a few, but without dogs...Don't hunt-em anymore as I don't hunt what I don't eat unless it is going to eat me or what belongs to me.

I guess this is an age old problem. I had a kennel of Siberian Huskys (11 dogs) I used to raise and show in Virginia. I was having a rough time of it and boarded the dogs at a friends place. I built pens for them and felt rather secure that they would do no damage. Siberians will seek out their own food if given the chance. The friends children went out to the pens and left the gates open when they left. Two of the dogs got out, killed two sheep from an adjoining farm, and the game warden shot and killed both my dogs. The woman who reported it told the authorities they were show dogs from a farm down the road, but the warden claimed he thought they were wolves, and that's why he shot them. Wolves in Virginia and wearing red collars? I doubt that! The woman was very understanding since her sheep were covered by State insurance. Still the fault was mine. In court the judge laid down the restrictions I'd have to follow to keep my dogs, double chain link fences, enclosed roofs etc. It was prohibitive, way beyond what I could afford so I had to get rid of my dogs. These were sweet, well trained show dogs, but like any dog when they get loose there's hell to pay. You just can't be too careful. Unfortunate, but it does happen. Best wishes.
