Well if you look into our history, the Dawes act of 1887 might be an interesting read. There was an entire culture that moved into another country that forced the population of that country to try and live their new cultural ways. Been there done that. From the 1800s to the present day, this culture has oppressed and destroyed the other culture into submission.
The Dawes act is actually about assimilation into the culture. There's a really good article on some local policies
that impact all of us in the USA. If you get through part one of this article (it's not that long really) move to part two it's very interesting.
I'm certainly not posting this in support of our illegals or naturalized citizens concerns about keeping their cultural laws, but you must admit it's not unheard of in this country.
