The news tonight had a article about the bombing during WW2 today being the annerversary of it. well thats a piece of history I have been ignorant of untill now. Sad the japs actually bombed the Aussie mainland!!! Shocked

Hell yeah mate...there were over 200 people killed in the bombing and a massive amount of damage done, especially to shipping and the marine infrastructure.

Jap Air Raid on Darwin

The Japs also sent three mini subs into Sydney harbour in May 1942, but only one managed to do and damage with 19 Australian and two British sailors killed. The mini sub had fired at what they thought was USS Chicago but missed, hitting instead HMAS Kuttabel, a converted harbour ferry.

I think they also regularily shelled Townsville and Sydney a couple of times
