What started out as a standard 7 1/2" barreled 44 magnum, has been transformed into a "Ruger Supreme Hunter II"...

Here is a list of specs on this new build:

The factory double action trigger pull was 24 lbs. and now, it is 10 lbs. 2 oz...

The factory single action pull was 8 1/2 lbs. and now, it is 2 lbs. 14 oz...

The factory barrel to cylinger gap was .011 and now, it is .0025...

Factory barrel length was 7 1/2" and now, it has an effective barrel length of 10" and 12" overall with the muzzle brake...

Using Winchester factory ammo, muzzle velocity with the factory barrel was 1,119 fps. and with the new barrel, the same load chronographs at 1,377 fps. with the new barrel...

Any questions, just ask!

Thank you Elvis, I appreciate it...

I'd be glad to build you one but, I bet the export taxes would cost more than the gun would.... Sad

Ahhhh....DS old mate...you've done it again...I'm drooling all over my keyboard.

That is one beautiful revolver mate...a magnificent piece of work that is a credit to your expertise. And, as Elvis said..."why oh why cant I have one?????"

DS, I also favorise the .44 RM. I prefer them less shiny but nevertheless this is a very nice tool.
Question: what do you do when you want to use such composition in low light conditions? I once tried it with a Leupold 4x but I was not able to find the right angle to look trough the optics. Is there something special or maybe a special trick?

No wheels necessary! It's not that heavy.... Smile

I do use and do not like Leupold scopes. With a low end magnification of 2X, it allows for a little longer hunting time than a lot of 4X scopes offer. Still not as good as a rifle scope, but, I've killed more than my share of deer and hogs using the same Bushnell scope....

Shiny finish / dull finish - just depends on what the customer wants....

Sorry about your keyboard Vince! I sure hope all that drool doesn't cause it to short out and if you and Elvis ever become "Americanized", I'll make sure you always have something to shoot.... Very Happy

Bushmaster - I shot the best "revolver" group in my life with this gun, after I finished setting the nylon inserts in these Burris Rings. I originally posted a picture with the gun, but no one believed it came from a revolver, so I removed it from the pictures to keep from hearing all the garbage over it. 6 shots at 50 yds. off sand bags was just a few thousandths under an inch and from someone who has handgun hunted since the 70's, I'll never be able to duplicate a group like this again - from a revolver....

Why the added scope base ???

Love my SRH but find the 9 1/2 barrel to be too muzzle heavy and hard to balance.......been thinking about shortening it.......any advise ???

Well for one, I cannot stand Ruger rings...

And two, there is no provision for windage and elevation adjustment...

With the Burris Signature ZEE rings, I was able to use the nylon inserts to set the set the scope within 2" of zero at 100 yds., before I ever touched the scopes adjustments. A scope that remains "optically centered" is inherently more accurate...

Also, those particular Burris rings do no leave a mark or dent in the scope tube, like what a lot of other rings do...

If you like your gun and plan on keeping it, and shooting it with a scope, cut the barrel back enough to remove the factory front sight, recrown and you should be good to go. That will remove a couple of ounces and the gun should have better balance to it....

Handgun hunting is some of the best hunting there is! I've been a handgun hunter since the 70's and have killed hundreds of game animals, as well as varmints with a handgun and really enjoy it...

With a revolver like the one posted above, out to 150 yds., you don't give up anything to a rifle. You can kill stuff a lot further than that, but, you need a good rest and a steady hand. Lots of practice don't hurt either....
