Mad I put a moderator on my deer rifle this week, it was a used one. Anyway I went to the estate to zero this afty'. It was spraying like a watering can, I couldnt get anywhere near and it knocked the old confidence a bit . I thought maybe it's me not the gun. I took it back and traded for a new reflex. What a diference. Spot on. Turn's out the first mod' has an eliptical hole so there are difering pressures on the bullet so it could never work. There's still quite a crack as the bullet breaks the sound barrierbut the deer will never hear it.

Beezer...???? Sound moderator?? (a silencer no doubt). Most deer shot correctly by a high powdered rifle never hear the sound anyway. I would hate to get caught with a "sound moderator" in this country and especially california...

Its legal with a class 3 license though. I've a couple friends with them & the appropriate paper work. Makes a big difference in noise but not as much as I would have thought... I guess it takes sub-sonic rounds to get as quiet as the movies show with HK MP40's.

Hey Beezer, have you looked into or at theese?------->Surefire Suppressors
I may have used one a time or two.....And they may or may not hinder your shooting very much or at all either....If you know what i mean.. Very Happy

DallanC: Definately S-S ammo makes a big difference.

Bushmaster: If you were caught with one of those in Calibania.......i'll just send ya a birthday cake with a file in it! Very Happy

The use of sound moderators here is not for the game or the hunters benefit but a lot of the time I am not too far from dwellings and the noise might upset the tree huggers. We use them for night time fox shooting as well.

Thats better! Reflex is the one you want, the other sounded like a total waste of time! I must say though that there is still a much better choiuce out there as your Reflex will deteriate rapidly, especially around the muzzle and the way of cleaning they recommend (spraying it full of WD40 is just plain stupid!! and dangerous!) You arent Philip Beezley are you? Yeah i have clients using .222's accross the border occasionally! or should i say unfortunately!!

I mostly operate in East Anglia, specialising in all but Sika, had over 30 gold medals taken with me last year.

Look forward to hearing from you!

I had a wildcat on another rifle they're fine but when you're on a pension you must watch the pennies. The reflex is a fine mod' but you must take it off when not in use otherwise they are subject to condensation.
