I've been trying to sell my AWA Peacekeeper for some time so I can purchase the new Springfield Range Officer 1911 .45acp.
Today things finally got done.
Tomorrow I will break this 1911 in with a few boxes of my 230gr Hardball reloads.
Then next week, I'll get serious about things.
I've been reading many great articles on this gun, and it looks like a back to basics throwback 1911 with a match barrel and match trigger job.

Time will tell, but methinks that I will be happy with it.
One more 1911 in my war chest Party

Way to go Eric...ya lucky bugger. I wish we were allowed to have a .45 out here in Australia...or to even be allowed to carry with a CCW.

Cheers, Vince

Thanks Vince.

I really haven't been a big fan of the Springfield 1911s.
I have shot quite a few, with mixed accuracy results at 25 yards.
They weren't the high end ones, so I just kind of put the Springfield thought on hold.
However for sometime, the great reviews of the Range Officer 1911 had me interested, and after I checked one out, I really had to have one, so my expendable gun went looking for a home. The problem was getting what it was worth.
Today, I didn't get what it was worth, but I got enough to purchase the Springfield, so I'm happy Laughing

I was just looking at a very long post over at the 1911 forum which was over a year old, but had great information and reviews of this pistol. I don't think that I made a mistake.

I was able to shoot about 100 rounds of my 230gr Hardball bullets before my shooters started wandering in.
Not a hiccup. The gun function perfectly.
I think that when I get it broken in, and get serious about accuracy, this gun will shoot as good or better than my Kimber Custom Target II.
It shows signs of it right now, and is tighter than my Kimber.

We will see, but so far all is well Very Happy

I shoot an older, stainless Springfield in Practical Pistol & for fun.
Apart from needing an ambidextrous safety coz I'm a lefty, it meets my needs admirably. It's more accurate than I am & has never yet failed to feed the 200gr SWC diet it gets.

Bad news for me is I'm off back to the UK in the morning, so no more handgun until I return to the US in November. Sad

I'm going to the range today, and for the first time, I'll shoot for accuracy.

My Club just started having IPSC shoots once a month, and I'm getting some pressure to get involved.

If I do, I think that I will use the Range Officer.
The fit and feel in my hands really feels good.

I'll try to post some pictures if I can get my Daughter to give me her camera Shocked

I just returned from the Range after shooting my Springfield RO.

This was the first time that I tried shooting for accuracy.

Using 200gr Precision "Black" bullets with a 5.1gr charge of WST, it shot 1 1/4" groups off hand at 25 yards.
Today, I was really shooting well. [unlike other days:-)]

I would say that this gun is as advertised. I would not hesitate to do Bullseye any day with this pistol.

Is it better than my Kimber Custom Target II?
It would be dumb to say that it is, but it is every bit as good. I do like it's looks much more. Springfield has it looking like the old GI .45s.

I'll try to get pictures posted sometime this weekend if I have time.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend Gang, and God Bless our Troops.

Eric

Me either !!!

Bought a new 9mm Loaded Stainless and got rid of it 2 months later when I finally came to the realization it was the gun and not me !!! Shocked

Spent the extra money and replaced it with a STI !!!

I went to the Range today, I was all alone, so I took out a box of my Precision bullets again.

I hate to say it, but it shoots a tad better than my Kimber Custom Target II.
A couple of my 5 shot groups were sub 1".
I have never shot that good with my Kimber.

This is one heck of a gun, and does live up to it's billing. I don't think that a TRP could shoot any better. I have around 600 rounds shot through it now, so it should be broken in.

I would post pictures of the targets, but when I see that stuff posted, I take it with a grain of salt.

Next week I'll stretch is out to 50 yards and see what happens. I'm sure that I'll be brought back to earth doing that. Laughing I usually am. Sad

EB, that says a lot just by itself. Its enough of a challenge to shot accurately at 25 yards. Glad you had a good day at the range.
