Whats the old saying about never going to a gunfight with anything smaller than a .40?
Seems the marines agree;

In America they are placed in surplus and sold to the civilians. It's part of our Contitution and Bill of Rights. Provided obama doesn't horn in

It is the 01070RG from Colt but in Tan incase anyone is wondering. But the USMC has been issuing M1911 MEU's of various forms since 1985, to Force Recon and MARSOC Units.
But since 2003 they have been buying more COTS pistols as their Armoury unit cannot keep up with the demand of building enough MEU's, M40A3's, SAM-R's etc.
Bushy,
When was the last time they even surplused any firearms? I thought after the whole Capt. Crunch situation with the M14, and the now cutting of vehicle frames into quarters etc the likelihood of getting surplused firearms in working order is now zero?

obama tried to stop the M1 Garands from returning from Korea and failed.
Somewhere (and I for get where) it states in the our Constitutional law that "retired" militay small arms become eligable for civilian use.
