This is certainly magnificent shooting.
Here is something that has been in the news the last few days.
A British Army soldier by the name of Corporal Craig Harrison, of the Household Cavalry, set a new record for the longest shot in combat. Twice.
New Record
Cheers, Vince

I reload for too many calibers but, believe it or not, nothing in .338. The 338 Lapua Magnum is the only cartridge that would tempt me to add another diameter bullet to my reloading inventory.
Maybe someday...

Return to allah tickets in .338, outstanding.
This will stand for quite awhile I would imagine, not an easy thing to superceed with a .50 cal let alone .338.
Well done that man, I wish he and his fellow wounded the best in their recoveries.

Rob Furlong did it with a McMillan Tac 50, whereas Craig Harrison did it with an AI in .338LM.
That was done in Oct/Nov 2009.

I was going to say the same; his confirmed kills were more than 2 years back.

From what was reported in New Zealand he fired a 3rd round which was used to smash the machine gun rendering it useless. Exceptional shooting. From the little I know about ballistics the he was at altitude in a very dry atmosphere with excellent clarity and no wind which all contribute to him making the shots.
Having fired a Sako TRG42 in the same calibre I found the calibre surprisingly light in the recoil department although the rifle I used was ported and had one of those big diamond head deflectors....bloody expensive to shoot. 20 rounds here in NZ are about $250, home loads $8 a round....not a cheap exercise, but considering the gun itself was $25K. Both Sako and AI also come with all sorts of computer ballistics packages as add ons.
It would be nice to own but I can't justify it to SWMBO.
