I've done that 2 nights ago, only shot 5, missed several. But we are only allowed to use an airrifle there. I used a Weihrauch HW90 in caliber .25", power enough, but no good for all bolts and screws nor for the optics included. And I don't like the .25 caliber in an airrifle. When it's dark it's very difficult to estimate distances and such a heavy pellet makes a large curve.
And then there is always that stupid mind... the first 3 rabbits stayed right on the spot and the 4-th I missed, thinking immediatly that my optics were out of line... not good for confindence and one forgets how to hold the airrifle properly to get the best results.
And then there are a lot of rabbits that chose to die elswhere and dogs are not allowed there...
I'm considering to built myself an airrifle using a single shot .22 LR. Still not decided to go for PCP or for CO². Both have their advantages, but the rifle's caliber is already decided to be a .22"

And when it's for pest control: don't hesitate too long to try a shot. It's very rare that a healphy rabbit drops death without a shot being fired...

This Elmer Fudd impersonator has a bit more luck than the cartoon character..
All together in 2 days I get 28 rabbits, and saw 2 deer in the property..
Here I am with a 22 LR and two deer walk past my path... Oh well, next time it will be..

Here are the photos.

Gathering the wabbits after shot

First 3 hours harvest

The land owner has a lot of knives, but they are all blunt..
so I spent a few hours resting my legs and sharpen these knives

Then I go out again and shoot some more.. and so on

After shooting, the work begin.. here are the result..

Here are the tails that the land lord ask me to collect. He will nail them to a board or something..

Geland, such a knife for a rabbit??? To skin a moose or an elephant maybe...
But I'm impressed by your speed (and you still have all your fingers)
I use a tiny knife and for the bones garden-shears (works also very good to open the pelvic cavity of roedeer)

Thank you sir, thats not my best speed, I have to stop and explain what to do there Razz

Yeah I have been thinking of using a secateurs to do the job, but when there are none, so I use the next best thing, a knife can do it too.

Great stuff Gelan...and I like the way you dress the wabbit, pretty much the same way I do the, only I take the head and lower legs last. I also "flick" the intestines out by holding the front and back legs and giving the wabbit a "flick"...everything flies out onto the deck.

I used to live just outside of Goulburn mate, in a place called Taralga...where abouts were you shooting...N S E or W of Goulburn?
