You have to wonder about the level of training the leos are getting these days.
What are the rules of engagement, apart from shoot until he drops or you run out of ammo?
I'm sorry but I cant see how a bloke running away is a threat that requires 8 or 9 shots. He stopped being a threat the second he dropped the tazer, turned around and legged it.
I dont really care what colour either party is, nor do I think it should have any bearing on what happened or on what is about to happen.
This cop is in the poo up to his ear lobes, and frankly I think he deserves it, no way is this a justified shoot.

The video doesn't look good but I'll wait for the rest of the story. The cop was arrested. Let's see what happens next.

I'm with you, Mike. It doesn't look good but I will with hold judgement until all the facts are in.

Been way too busy lately so haven't been haunting many of my favorite forums….but saw this one and thought you dumb F..K! Pure and simple.
Both my son and I cannot understand this at all, next week we had the old fellah shot an offender on the ground instead of Taser, Oh shit what next, some idiot patrol officer deliberately rams a man discharging a rifle in the air….all my missus says is why is there so much incompetence ….and I have to agree with her.
I don't know what goes through some guys minds when they put a badge on but believe me It reelects badly on all of us LEOs.

FYI both Father and Son are LEOs and sure as god made little green apples neither of us can understand it…..
The Administrations of each and every one of those jurisdictions is at fault. It'll cost a lot of people "the good will of their citizens" and thats gold in my book
Trust and confidence is all important to Law enforcement and above all thats what gives you the authority to do your job, its your skill set and training and understanding your community that gets you the respect.

I'm not saying that the cop was right but there is more to this story. According to witnesses, just before this video was made, the cop was on the ground with the suspect on top of him.

The problem with the shooting is that it took place as the perp was running away.
It is hard for a police officer to show that there was any danger to himself or others at that point. A citizen might be able to get away with such a shooting because he has less burden to prove that he felt endangered where a cop has to show immediate, clear and present danger. Even though his life may have been in danger just prior to the guy running away and his mental attitude may have been self defence he is not going to be able to show cause.
I know there is a lot more to the story - and a lot of it may be suppressed outside the courtroom - but the video is damning for the cop in this case.
