Unless I'm creating a new topic or quoting somebody, I can't figure out how to get those neat icons into my message. I addressed this in the "Contact Us" module, but, got no response. So I'm asking those of you who have been here for awhile to help me out.

I feel this is important as those icons help in the perception of what I write. Don't want anyone to take me the wrong way when I respond to some of these subjects. A properly placed icon can do a lot for my image.

Fun huh? Took me a while to figure them out. Especially the big page of them. Not sure how to tell you how to use them either. Except in the little box. Make sure your cursor is blinking where you want the icon to be and move the cursor arrow to the funny face you want and click on it. It will post where the cursor is blinking. The big page is about the same except you will have to make sure that your cursor is where you want it when you go to the big page. Just click on what you want and return. It will be there, I think. Maybe some one had a easier way. I'm up for it....

Ah sorry about that, I've been terribly busy lately and its only getting worse.

Yup, and they can be alot of fun too.

Basically you can add them at any time by one of 2 different methods. You can add them by clicking on the image frrom the "smilie" list (list is only visible if you click REPLY to a topic and not use the "quick reply" at the bottom of message threads. The 2nd method is to type in the smilie code directly. All smilie's start with a ":" character followed by 1 or more characters that define the smilie in question. Generally what you type is intuative if you think of the ":" as eye balls (turn your head 90degrees to the left).

:) would make a smilie face.

:D would make a big smile.

:( would make a frowny face.

Some icons have words however as I ran out of single charaters to make the code with. These types of icons have a starting and ending ":"

:wave3: makes a waving icon for example

 makes a party icon

There are lots of smilies and to see the codes try making a post in the test forum, click on the "Smilies" images and see what code's get inserted into your post. I generally just click on the icons to insert them though.
