hey guys

im in missouri and my brother in law is in alabama. he wants my wife his sister to come visit a week or two.

well hes in huntsville and i really dont want to kill a week in town.

how are the whitetails there and does anyone know of any open hunting areas there. i can get aq week in the countryside hunting whitetails as she visits.

i know theres small deer there in the south and big deer in the north.

is it swamps sith short shots or open with long shots?

ill take 2 rifles my no 4 longbranch 303 and my 1917 30 06 eddystone.

between the 2 rfles i can shoot up close or far far away.

i know nothing about alabama

would want to take my honda 500 foreman so rugged country not a issue.

I haven't hunted Alabama, but I have hunted right across the border in Georgia.
Alabama's bag limits are liberal, to say the least. There are incredible numbers of deer down there.
I expect you'll run into woods hunting, with possibly some fields or foodplots, depending on the land you hunt.

You may be surprised about the deer in Alabama. Body sizes are generally smaller than northern deer. But I'll bet you money that you will not be disappointed in the racks! I have seen some incredible pictures of deer taken there. Several friends of mine hunt in Alabama, mostly further south nearer Montgomery. Generous limits and long seasons are the norm. Do a little asking around, call some of the gun shops in the Huntsville area, or contact the DNR and pick their brains. You'll find a wealth of information, I'll bet.
Good luck and good hunting!

no rush to do anything while im there so any day in the woods will be a good day.

Jus ask me , whaddya wanna know , there are several state run WMA's up north , but sometimes they have funky dates within the state season .. Do he hunt , if so he may have access with a club .. We have had some 200+ weight deer and huge racks come out of Bama .. No they arent the big monsters like up north .. Harder to hunt tho ..
Limit is about 300 a year .. 10 day non resident license is around $125.00
Send me a PM with your snail mail , and I'll send ya a state regulation brochure ..
