ok probably a stupid question but gotta ask it, to our bretherin up north (canada) do you guys have different time zones or do you just go by winter/mud/almost winter.. i know bad joke but seriously, i was asking since congress here decided to change the daylight savings time by three weeks, so it is time to reset the clocks again...

Yes we decided to change it to fallow the US switching early. We ship more stuff to the US each year then China does so makes sense for us to fallow suit. So our clocks are being switched today. Smile

Also in Canada we have LONG winter, spring, SHORT summer, fall and we have the same timezones as they do in the US execpt we have Newfy time which is a half hour off the standard time zone. Very Happy

One thing I do belive one province doesnt fallow it, I forget which one. Smile

Arizona is unaffected by DST, except for the Navajos which honor it.

Problem is, my clock is radio directed from the atomic clock and automatically compensates for DST which would cause a loss of one hour of sleep tonight.

Thanks for the reminder.

Does anyone else find DST to be basically "silly"? The concept of time is artificial, ultimately meaningless and is capable of being altered as we learn the means to do so. Add to that the mystery of the International Date Line and we see the absurdity of such archaic and primitive systems.

Now excuse me, it is time for bed.

I like it. I wish we had it year round. It's nice having more daylight in the afternoon. Gives me more time to do things after work or on the weekends.
Time Zones and the International Date Line are confusing to some but necessary. You gotta start somewhere. Besides, we all are not on the same location on this rotating blue ball.

I'm with Yotebuster...I really don't care if it is dark in the morning as long as I have a long evening of daylight...The whole idea of the time changes is outdated anyway...

Here in Saskatchewan we do not change our time at all. Our clocks do not go back and forth at specific times each year. I o see the reason for it in some zones. Very Happy

now see i got into the discussion with the wife after finding out it was for reasons of saving energy to the tune of 1% if the time was changed. hmm lets see my kids getting up and standing in the dark to get the school bus or 1 % of energy saved guess which i would choose.. also if it is daylight longer, then this means i will outside longer in the car longer buying more gas and ruining the ozone faster... gee that 1% really was worth it!!

as far as time being artificial, ummm time is a relitive thing... ya need to know when to plant the crops, which is set by time, ya need to know when the animals are going into rut and this depends on time also.. so time is time and i dont think they meaning congress should be allowed to screw with it. if you work at night, say security guard or what have you , the 3 weeks early set back turns into 21 hours of lost time so now who is gonna pay that??

We're still far and away the U.S's biggest trading partner Dimitri, Saskatchewan doesn't change times. Half the year they're the same time as Manitoba and half the year they're same time as Alberta. I think the whole time change thing is a pretty silly notion too, but I hate to admit to Saskatchewan that they have the right idea Very Happy

Tracker,

The US exports into Canada 23.4% of everything they export, and thats the largest amount, at about 240 billion dollars worth. And they import from Canada 16.9% or 315 billion or so dollars worth also the highest amount then any other. Smile

We are the largest trading partner to the US. Smile And looking at the Canadian satistics its even more US dependatant when we export 84.2% of everything to the US and import 56.7% of everything from the US. Very Happy

Diamonds are made when carbon has alot of heat and pressure, thats how they make "real" fake diamonds which are perfect for expensive hard drilling tools for mines, oil wells etc, so when you consider Canada is such a big country and made of alot of rock it provides a idea condition for diamonds to form.

Also note if they are real Canadian diamonds they got the polar bear on them, lots of fakes out there claim to be Canadian diamonds so they can say they arn't "blood diamonds" from Africa but they very well might be "fakes". Confused
