Finishing Suppliers

I am setting up an amateur refinishing "lab" at my house. Looking for suppliers for all the materials, tanks, tools, etc. I will need. I know about Brownells, Midway, etc. Are there any manufacturer direct locations where I could by these items? Thanks for any help you can offer.

If you are wondering....I have a few guns that ended up in my hands because they were "ugly cheap". I am going to refinish these and possibly others in my own arsenal. Possibly a friends or two after I have practiced on my own.

Not much else can be done with something not carried by Midway or Brownell's.............

Midway's got the best prices, Brownell's has what Midway doesn't.

And Brownell's has an excellent Tech Tips section and tech support crew to help bail a person out of trouble.

I am not sure of what type of finish your after Spray on, Bake on, Dip, Blue or Parkerize. I have had good luck with DuraCoat as far as the spray on type. I Tried the Brownells brand stuff with semi-descent results but it may have been my prep. work.

Lauer Custom Weaponry in WI is the producer of DuraCoat. They have additional refinishing supplies as well. Their address is: www.lauerweaponry.com/

I haven't done any price comparisons between Them, Midway or Brownells.
But they do have some technical support as well as list of Certified Refinishers across the country who may be able to help you.

Actually you are right on. I have just received the kit from Lauer for refinishing a barrelled action on a 22-250 for a varmint gun. That is my first project and I am looking for a few other options for the other vintage projects I want to do. Thanks for the input.
