The day started out on the wrong foot, it was -23* when we got outside. The hitch was froze open on the trailer and had to be persuaded with a hammer. Of course the trailer lights picked this morning to quit working so we contended with that. My son and I headed up north for an hour drive. When we got to the lake and started to unload the four wheeler wouldn't start. This is the first time that it wouldn't start. Mad

This is the first time I have been to this year, I had no idea if ice thickness and condition. There are plowed roads and a couple of small vehicle out there so we pulled out an auger and commenced to check ice thickness. A local came buy and we talked for a couple of minutes. I got the information that I needed he drove out to his fish house. So we pulled the truck out on the ice and found our spot. Shocked

We started drilling our spear holes now my son is drilling at the same time I am but my auger won't stay running ! Mad I finally got the hole drilled and fishouse set up and started fishing before my son got done with his hole, he made a couple of rookie mistakes that cost some time. Sad

Things finally started getting better, I speared the first fish within 25 minutes. We had our six northern pike and heading off the ice by 1pm. My son only speared one and I got the other five. Nothing big but all descent fish. Very Happy

I don't know why it always has to turn so cold!!! wtf
All in all a good day of fishing.

Hope to get up to Ely in a couple of weeks to kill some trout.
I figure to head to Mille Lacs for some walleye next weekend.

I have been up to my neck doing work for our Parish, and also the Sportsmen's club, so I just haven't had much time to sit by the computer.
Next month are Club elections. Pistol League takes over 300 hours of my time during the year, which is just fine, but, putting several more hundred hours dealing with dysfunctionals as the Club's Vice President of Operations is more that I care to do.

Still waiting for your call to go shooting with me wiersy.

Hey Elvis, I can taste those browns right now.
Anything less than two pounds is great eating.

Eric

Wiersay old mate....that looks a tad cold there. Only time you see me looking even remotely like that is when I come out of the surf and fall on me face in the sand. Very Happy Laughing

Good to hear that the fishing went well mate. Whenever I go fishing...well, I don't call it fishing anymore...I call it feeding...I never seem to catch much at all.

Eric...where ya bin mate...haven't heard hide nor hair of ya for a while mate...even emails get returned. Confused

Cheers, Vince
