I made it to the gun show in Fort Worth this past weekend. It was the biggest I have seen in many years. It was packed. Firearms were in plentiful supply including ARs and prices were down to normal. Ammo looks like it was coming back except for 22 LR. Only two dealers had 22 ammo and they were still asking $30 to $60 for a box of 333 to 500 rounds. Maybe things will let up soon for powder and primers. My son has had a hard time finding a Tikka T3 in 30.06.

.22lr is showing up in the local Walmart about once a week. I have enough I haven't cared to be there in time to get it when a shipment does show up, but just hearing they are getting it more frequently is a good sign.

My plan is still to wait till it shows up in stock for a while, prices stabilize... then I'm buying a case or two to last me the rest of my life.

I went to a gun show in Greensboro, NC this past weekend. Like Slim said, some prices looked good, a few were still high. Availability was OK, except for .22 RF.

We don't have a shortage of .22 rimfire ammo over here in Australia...but the prices can be a bit ordinary.

I have bought several "bricks" over the past couple of months and the prices varied a bit...
Remington SubSonic - $29 for 500 rds
Remington Cyclone - $29 for 500 rds
Winchester Xpert - $30 for 500 rds
Federal Champion - $29 for 525 rds
Winchester PowerPoint - $65 for 500 rds

My mate bought a Remington Bucket 'O Bullets - $76 for 1400 rds

I paid $9 for the last box of 22 ammo - Win HP 333 count or was it 555. Of course, that was a year and a half ago.

Yeah we are quite lucky here in Oz, we have no noticeable shortage so far...
but then again the government made it much more difficult for us to use what we have, yet demanding that we must use it regularly.

LOL, to be legal for Pistol license and ownership we have to do at least 12 match/competition a year, PER EACH GUN you have.
to be legal for rifle ownership, you have to do at least 6 target/match shoot sessions , or 2x hunting sessions.

Now the thing is they also making it very very difficult for the clubs to operate and as of May they stop all permit for hunting in the public land.

Geland, ever tried to convince enough people to take 1 year holiday without payment (and without paying taxes af course)? So politicians and administrations can work for their money...
I think people still have the real power, they only are not willing to use it.

And how do collectors handle such demands? They live on welfare to get enough shooting time?

How do you let them know which rifle you take out hunting? And what's a "hunting session"? Is it 1 shot at a rabbit or 1 day hunting or 1 hunting trip? Does it count to go hunting for laying-down-game-with-short-ears?

They do not care which gun you use, as long as you meet the numbers.

Often when I was short of ammo or time to do outdoor match, I just do a few indoor air pistol match to boost up my comp number.
In my club we cannot shoot outdoor before 9.30 am and after 4.30 pm due to "noise" - not sure why coz the nearest residential is over 4 km away (see photo).
I can shoot air pistol indoor any time since I have the permission and key to use the club.

Hunting down here must be logged such as the permission from land owners or permit to hunt in public land.
You do not have to shoot, as long as you get the permission it is good.
Well, many times I went and get zilch anyway Embarassed

Down here, collectors must go through hoops and bend over every time the regulators demanded.
And I believe collection items must be "fully disabled" or else the collector will have to do the shoot as well.

Nanny laws.

My job and SWMBO don't allow me the pleasure of shooting this much. I think this excessive. I could never accomplish this with my relatively small gun safe of firearms. And when I do start shooting, its between sunrise and 8am.
