I found this site a while back for Gun manuals.

it might come in handy if you lose your manual or want to see what parts are in a gun.

I can get manuals, including the Dis-assembly and assembly manuals from the firearms manufacturers for all my weapons without violating any copyright laws. I have a problem with folks who violate copyrights - even if it is to offer another source for information. As an author, it iritates me when I see people taking written material without the express permission of the author. Especially when it is so easy to get the permission from them. Steve knows better.

On the other side Egunparts is a great source for parts!

Interesting site regarding gun manuals. I have used Gun Parts Corporation and like them. There are other sites for military surplus parts. All the best...

PaulS..I am in agreement with you...But I bet that the gun manufacturers really don't mind in this case as it is also the law that they provide free manuals for all their firearms. I would amagin that would include parts manuals too. If you check some of the gun manufacturers web sites you will find free manual downloads as that is where I got my manual and parts manual for my Browning BSS 12 ga.

Paul, my apologies,

I had no intention to iritate you or any one else.
I did not even think of copy right laws on this matter.
I also do not know that much about that site or if the owner has leagal permission to offer the manuals ? I just assumed every thing was ok.

I am allways very causious of not posting any links to illegal matterial or anything that will or might bother some one.
I respect copyright laws.

if the you feel this strongly about the link and others are affended by it too.

let me know, I will be more than happy to remove the link. or a moderator or admin can do it too. I will not be affended.

was just trying to be helpfull .

Ripper007,
I didn't mean any of that toward you - Steve and I have had discussions on this in the past - back when he was asking people to share their material with him so he could post it. You posting the link is not the problem - I wouldn't think anything of it if I didn't know that it was all stuff he collected without permission. The laws say that you have to post "conspicuously" permission to reprint when you are authorized to reprint copyrighted materials - he doesn't post any permissions so I assume it is all pirated. It is a pet peave of mine because I have had books and software stolen from me and passed around by people just like Steve. It is a crime but it is difficult to prosecute and the big busineses are not willing to pounce on the "little guy" for reasons of PR. Even though he reaches a lot of people with his site he is just a old guy with a website on his hobby. He will probably get away with it for years.
My pet peave - and I don't have bad feelings about you - just the guy who steals the material.

Bushmaster,

Yep! I got a lost manual from Ruger that same way. MY complaint is that here is a guy who could easily get permission to do what he is already doing illegally and post links to the manufacturers sites or post the material on his site with permission and have good quality stuff instead of the recopied, hard to read stuff that he has (although some of his stuff is very good quality). I will always go to the manufacturer - even if it requires postage and a fee for mailing the manuals rather than go to his or any pirate to get manuals. You are probably right in saying that the manufacturers probably don't care too much - this is MY pet peave and it is only directed at Steve and folks like him - not at people who download his stuff without knowing that it is illegal - I don't blame those who don't know better only those who steal it and make it available illegally.

Gun Manuals are great. Very Happy

I myself downloaded as many manuals from different companies that I thought I might ever possibly use. Smile Its a collection of over a GB Cool

Alot of sites have manuals posted by the hunderds.

Bigger Hammer:

www.biggerhammer.net/manuals/

There is another one I dont have the link with me now though.

Anyways its to help people get the right manuals right ?? I dont think a firearm manufacture would care much about it. Very Happy

Dimitri

It seems to me it would only be illegal If the Owner of said materiel is complaining. Do you own the materieal in question? No? there you go.

Yes, and speeding is only wrong if you get caught - and I steal from you and you don't know it then that is ok too. Right?

The laws exist to protect those who produce the material - without then there is no reason to produce and you can own nothing that is produced.

PaulS,

Gun manuals are different, I do belive manufactures HAVE TO BY LAW to give manuals for there guns, and they post them on there websites for free so why not copy them and post them on your sight or make a CD with them for back up ?? Confused

I know if I was a manufacture I'd love it if people made my firearm manuals more accessible, and for that matter if I was selling anything if my manuals were all over it would help people who are having problems and cost me less in customer support services! Cool

Dimitri

I am not trying to force my morality on anyone here - The sites have copyrights - anything written is copyrighted by legal definition - and all of the sites I have been to have copyright notices. Even without the notice the material is covered by copyright laws in the USA.
To copy the material - even for your own use - without expressed permission is illegal. To copy the material and distribute it is just as illegal and in MY OPINION even more wrong MORALY than using it for personal use.

You can try to justify it all you want - you can do it or not - it doesn't affect me at all. Speaking from a legal standpoint it is wrong. That is all I am saying. Do what you wish to do. I will continue to get my manuals from the manufacturers with their permission. I pay copyright fees when I use materials that are covered by those laws. You don't have to. This is MY moral stand. I am not condemning you - any of you - for your actions - I was originally making a legal point - Now I find that you want me to defend myself and my choice to follow the law. I choose to follow the law - what you do, and the reasons that you do it is for you to deal with - I have enogh within myself to deal with without arguing with others about a moral and legal choice that I made and continue to live by.
I am not going to continue this line of conversation - it serves no productive purpose - I am not judging any of you - only my own actions.
