Winchester factory 270 ammo fails to chamber

Interesting information. With all respect to Winchester, if I couldn't hold my loads to tighter tolerances than that I wouldn't load!

I remember when Federal had a similar problem with their "premium" ammo. A guy camped next to me on a deer hunt could get only one cartridge out of a new box of 20 Federals to chamber in his 7mm Remington Magnum. I ended up loaning him a spare rifle of mine for opening morning until he could go to town and buy more cartridges and get re-sighted. Turned out he didn't need them since he got his buck with the rifle he had borrowed!

if he had borrowed it from you Mate chances are it would be better than any rifle and factory combo he could own....and a darn sight more accurate along with it.

You say these were gifted to you.....Are you sure they were factory ammo?

Absolutely. Boxes were brand new, brass is brand new... and the gifters are not reloaders themselves.
