Vince,
Relax How about you set up a back pack with everything less the gun and ammo ??
Thats what I do, all my hunting equipment is in a bag so I just need to grab it and I'm "ready" for the most part
Just need to remember after:
1) Gun or Bow
2) Ammo or Arrows
3) Bag
Oh and just put a trigger lock on your gun dont remove the bolt if you dont have too makes it less to worry about. With a spare key for the trigger lock always on your car key's ring.

Dimitri. I have pretty well everything I need in the one place. I have a quantity of "common" items I use for weekends away fishing, hunting or going up to the daughters farm to do a little horse or motorbike riding.
As a general rule I never travel with bolts in my rifle, other than my Mod 94 30.30, its a safety thing. Also in some parts of Australia it is best not to travel with the bolts in them. If you are checked out by the Police for any reason the safer things are the happier they are.....shows you have a sense of responsibility and keeps them off your back. I just have to remember to put the bolts in my bag....bolts...bolts???

Bugger, I think this is going to get annoying.
Cheers, Vince

I travel with the bolts out of my rifles too.
I also use a large tool box for my ammo and made places in the roof cavity of the tool box for all my bolts and a couple of bore snakes.
So I can have the rifles in their boxes and have the ammo box next to it and check off the rifle ammo and bolts to suit all in one hit and then it goes in the car.
Ialso have a checklist for clothing and equipemnt and check it off as it goes in the car and again when ipack up to come home.

That actually sounds like a good idea. Since when your transporting guns even here your supposed to make them "inaccessable". Humm maybe I should do that and get thouse cable locks to use through the action so the bolts cant fit in to the rifle instead of the normal trigger locks.

Around here they don't care if your gun has a trigger lock or whether the bolt is in it or not while traveling, as long as the gun is not loaded. Then you could be in deep manure. ) |
It's the same in my little part of the world, except the ammo has to be locked up in a different part of the car. If the police find the rifles in the passenger compartment with the ammo it would turn into a really bad day. I always keep the rifles locked up in the trunk and the ammo in a lock box in the back of the car.

Vince:
Didn't somebody write a poem about that once?..."Bolts, bolts, bolts..." Or was that "Boots, boots, boots..." ? I keep thinking Hemingway, but no, it was that guy who penned "Gunga Din". WHO was that? I just HATE it when that happens!
