Yes. That's possible. I have ten 20 round magazines loaded right now.

Are those drum mags reliable in use? I have never bought one but I hear bad things about them.

I've never tried a drum and I also wonder how much they'd weigh? You might need a bipod just to hold it up!

The AR10 is a rather heavy rifle and adding the 20 round magazine it becomes a HEAVY rifle. Besides, the drum magazine would also be very cumbersome.

I've carried and FNC2 (Canadian FAL in full auto) with 5 x 30rd mags, 1 in the gun and 4 in a chest pouch. That's heavy.

I've also carried a FAL in Rhodesia, and they can get heavy too.

I carried both the L1A1 and the L2A1 at one time or another when in the Aussie Army, but mainly the L1A1, and even with the weight difference both became uncomfortably heavy when carried for long periods, especially with a full complement of magazines. The AR10 wasn’t as heavy as the L1A1 and has the full auto option which in my mind made it a more versatile rifle, although the early versions had problems that put it out of the running to be adopted by the US Army.

In Vietnam, if you asked an Aussie soldier which rifle he preferred to carry they would usually choose the M16 for weight, but always the L1A1 SLR for hitting power. The L2A1 only offered the increased firepower with 30 round mags but the heavier barrel and bipod made it cumbersome and too heavy. The M60, although heavier, had far more to offer. There was even an Aussie Company Commander that chose to carry an M60 as his personal weapon.

If I had a choice of carry in a combat situation, it would be a toss up between the L1A1 SLR and the AR10...the SLR because I am very familiar with it and the AR10 because of it versatility. Be brilliant if I had both available as required.

That's about the same as the Canadian FNC2 Vince.

And...Did you get that beer from Vince's cooler? Good...Just pull up a stump next to the fire and join the stories and "no sh*ters" Aah...true hunting stories. Be on the look out for that lady with the willow switch. She's real mean.

They did here too, as I'm now the daytime carer for my 90 year old mother (brother does nights).
Add to that being left a house that needs major refurbishment before I sell it & I've not even been fishing in four months.

It's all about time management. The first four hours are for the wife then it's my time for my projects and recreation and the last four hours are for my wife. That keeps her satisfied and both of us happily in love.
