Wow, this post slipped through the cracks and I hope you have not given up on us.
I shoot a 243 Win for varmints and deer with bullets of 55 gr up to 100 gr. I never tried the heavier bullets, the 105-107 gr variety, because the game in my area don't need it.
The twist rate of the 243 Win and 243 AI are usually the same and the 6mm and 6mm AI are the same and different from the 243. The twist rate difference in the 6mm Rem was to make the round more competitive with the 243 Win but it didn't quite work out that way.
The Ackleys are ok if you reload but not necessary. The straight factory 243 and 6mm rounds work great.
You will find a good discussion about each factory 243 and 6mm rounds in any reloading manual. The load data section here at hunting nut should give you an idea of the slim difference in loads and bullet weights between the two calibers. As for the AI's, you wind up with a caliber that uses more powder chasing the velocity dragon. Usually the velocity difference is not really worth the expense of another set of reloading dies. But, if you like to tinker the 243 and 6mm are a good place to start.
