I don't know if I'd agree that its cheaper to date (or rent as it was put) then it is to marry.
A single dinner date can cost up to 150$. So I'm not too sure about the costs.
As for me making a belt instead of going out, the girls I've been seeing are ether working today so she wouldn't stay out late last night or I have not seen them in a long while (have talked with her since though).

I second that..
you would then have to buy fish for two..
instead of having able to eat them twice as long..
But then again frying them together may save some time too..

150$ a week buys groceries for 2 and gives me some spare money to "treat" her with a flower or some such nonsense.

I’m thinking it’s time for this thread to be jacked again !!!
So I pose this reloading question and open up a discussion.
When filling your case up with powder, how critical do you think it is to have the exact weight each and every time ?
What’s wrong with having a charge that’s off a tenth or two ? Maybe even a halve grain.
At what point do you think it really matters ?

Chambered, if I'm loading for accuracy, as in long range match or hunting loads, the key is consistency. I weigh every charge to the tenth of a grain. The same for any load that is close to max. If I'm loading plinking loads or CAS loads I'm not as picky and just throw a charge (after setting up the measure of course).

Been a slow day around here I see !!!
Mike , I was thinking more than one response was needed for a discussion.
I'll give it more time and see what happens.

The original Lee handloading tool used a dipper, as does (did?) some of its die sets. It was "close", and did not dispense max loads, unless misused.
I have an old Hornady pistol measure that uses bushings and dispenses power by volume. It will not exactly match some of the loads recommended...like 5.8gr. of Superwhammy pistol powder, but it will come close enough with most powders for any practical use, and boy, does it ever save time!
Rifle stuff, I weigh every load to less than 1/10gr. I don't think 1/10gr. will make much practical difference in hunting or general rounds, but for target, there are a bunch of benchresters that will disagree with me. And, as long as I am weighing each charge, being really precise takes not much more time.
With less than max. loads, depending on your powder, there is less need to be precise.
Some powders have a very narrow range between recommended start and max loads, and when you approach max. loads, caution pays large benefits, IMO.
~1/10gr, not much problem, but if you aren't able to dispense a near max load with less than 1/2gr+ - consistency, it might tend to frighten the horses. With a half-grain difference, accuracy will likely be unacceptable.

Let me first say that I weigh each and every rifle charge to within one tenth of a grain before it goes into the case. This is what I was taught and what I believed in.
I have to admit though, I’ve started to question the need for exact and precise measuring !!!
What got me thinking about this was the OCW method that got discussed here at Hunting Nut pretty heavily about a year ago. Anyways lets not rehash that !!! The basis of OCW was to pick a load in which 3 different charges impacted the target the closest at about 300 yards. Now I have to admit I haven’t done any testing like this, Yet !!! I plan to this spring. From targets I’ve seen using this method I was surprised to see how close the groups were from one another.
This lead me to start looking at groups I shot at 100 yards in developing some of my loads. Guess what !!! At .5 grains difference in charge weight POI is hardly noticeable.
That lead me to the question of what is the velocity change in a ½ grain of powder ?
Using data and some quick math from a Nosler reloading manual I concluded that approximately 30 FPS change would occur. Breaking it down to .25 would be 15 FPS change. As a side note to this My Reading powder thrower will throw any powder I’ve put in it with way better than .25 accuracy.
The next step, Point Blank, Thank you again Dallan !!! ( I hope I spelled that correctly )
The following is POI changes at different yardage and the amount of drop based on total drop from Point Blank.
At 100 yards
-15 FPS = .03
-30 FPS = .05
At 300 yards
-15 FPS = .24
-30 FPS = .49
At 600 yards
-15 FPS = 1.22
-30 FPS = 2.46
All the above info was once again based upon my 7mm-08 w/120gr. Ballistic Tip @ 2900 FPS.
So as you can see I do have some validity in what I say. Obviously, long range and hardcore bench-rest shooters will differ, but for the average Joe and deer hunters I think I raise a good point.
That point is shoot and practice more than reloading !!!

Well now....lookee here....a thread that is right up my alley.
Old Farts (guilty Yer 'Onour) and hijacking.
I must admit, I have to agree with what Chris has said. Its easy to drift off on a tangent when we all get together...you say you killed a tree Punkin...but I think one thing that we should all be mindful of is that when someone posts a request for information, the original question was asked for one very important reason...the poster either didn't know the answer, or he didn't want to make a fatal mistake. When someone asks for our advice, we should be respectful of his reasons for asking.
Now, having said that....a tree Punkin, and only a sapling too, how could you mate...whoops, back again...I'm an Old Fart and about as proud an Old Fart you will not meet in a hurry...in fact I'm had a flatulence problem most of my life, so maybe I should be called an Old Farter.
Now, as for meetin' and greetin'....if'n I can't offer a new member a seat by the fire, and a beer, well, what's the world comin' to?
Cheers, Vince
