My local gun shop is starting to get powder, primers and bullets that have been on order for a long time. I bought some IMR4350 and was pleased to see most of the IMR powders were on the shelf. My guess is that production is starting to catch up with demand. The number of customers stocking up may be reaching a saturation point. Anyway, I hope we have turned the corner. Take care...

Weird. The stuff never seems to make out this far for some reason.

Glad you guys are getting some at least. Cabela's and local stores have zip. Been on b/o for weeks for bullets and primers. I got 7 lbs. of powder just sitting. Confused Eh- no hurry. It'll come someday.

We've had Federal primers showing up lately along with some powders but bullets still seem to be an issue!!!

I agree with Joe. The shops I visit have more reloading components on the shelves. All the best...

Can only hope the situation gets better here, and soon. VERY few components to be had.

Things are better here, but I am not sure if Cabela's is still rationing or not. Bought powder and primers locally. Now, I wonder if I can ask a technical question and not cause a problem?? Having some reload problems and need some expert advice!!!!!!! Ogives, seating depths, and OAL's are really starting to bug me!! My problem is that OAL keeps changing and I am find upto .030 difference in bullet length in the same box. How do I make sure that all is well with my reloads when things keep changing???? Don't seem like seating depth and related issues shouyld chasnge as r the dies can't move, so what is happening here????? Confused Confused

What you’re finding is not unusual Vint!!!

First understand that when bullets are made, the dies that they are made in wear. As they wear the position of the ogive changes. Then to compound the issue most bullet manufactures have multiple machines making bullets that dump into one hopper before moving on to the next process.

The next thing you need to understand is that a rifle seating die seats by pushing against the ogive not the tip of the bullet. Therefore any change in the position of the ogive will show up in the OAL of the loaded case.

I have been using Nosler B-Tips pretty much since they came on the market and they are notorious for this. I’ve seen boxes of 100 with .030 difference with 4 different ogive readings. (Obviously 4 presses were running this batch of bullets at one time)
On paper at 100 yards (deer loads) it didn’t show up so I don’t worry about it.
On my varmint loads I’ll separate them into the different OAL’s and use whatever the load was designed around +-.005 for the long range work and use the others for the close stuff.

You can also buy a bullet comparator to sort your bullets with prior to loading, that way you can make adjustments to the seating die for each ogive reading.

Vint, I use one of these to do my measuring to set up my seating die. I don't worry too much about OAL after using this, especially with HP or lead-tipped bullets.

I have been considering this exact tool!! Thanks for the insight!!! Chambered, you confirmed my suspicions and I thank you for that!! I am an acurracy nut who does a lot of hunting. I think that the confidence of an accurate weapon helps a lot when one is in the field. It would seem to me that we need to pay attention to detail and keep in touch with fellow "nuts"!!!!! Very Happy Now I have to get a tool, run some loads, and let y'all know what happened!!!
THANKS GUYS!!!!!!!!!!

Got powder at $20.00/lb and primers at $30/brick tax included. Think primers are still a little stiff, but at least we can get them.

Bulk bullets are hard to find. Primers are available but at higher prices and most shops have a purchasing limit. Loaded ammo is coming back at higher prices. Most powders are available now. As long as the idiots in DC don't try to push some antigun legislation, things should go back to normal in another 6 months.
