Funny that, so am I. My Grandfather on Dad's side was born in Newry...just over the border in Northern Ireland and my Mother's people are Fraziers' from around just south of Edinburgh.

They absolutely don't care about the people, re-election is on their minds. Republicans are trying to force the hand of the Democrats (and rightly so) and they're not backing down, thing is the Democrats will allow a default so they can blame the Republicans. Which in turn will oust the Democrats at the next election but what do they care? They're all set up for the rest of their lives with tax payers money footing the bill for their retirement, medical and all the other perks of a government employee, so why should they care what happens down the road. They have no sense of reality in the real world, no idea of life from the working stiff point of view, other than what they learned in Harvard.
This is a time when we can all afford to be prepared for the worst scenario. Quit buying frivolous stuff on the credit cards, fill your larder and hoard what you can barter. I'm watchin my stock portfolio tumble day after day and if Wall Street doesn't know what's goin on, then who does? People are cashin in. I'm waiting till monday, they might just do something between now and then but Obama likes to use Fridays and Mondays as his spring-the-beast days so who knows? Cross your fingers. Maybe I should go fishin.... this is crap for sure and it's going to be felt world wide if these jerks don't get on the stick and do the right thing.

I agree with Suz, 100%.
Vinny- my last is derived from Muhr, or mur or some such...I think our lineage is a sub-vert of the clan Leslie, that or from between a rock and a sheep's place.

Suz...truer words have never been spoken.
Politicians are the same the world over...they are in it for what they can get out of it. There were days when being elected was an honour, doing the job was an honour, and the perks were minimal...but not these days. The bastards have voted themselves massive salaries and untold financial benefits for life. It is the same over here.
This "debt ceiling" thing is what concerns me...what will be the eventual outcome of the whole affair? The Chinese are sitting back rubbing their hands together because they won't care if the US economy goes down the gurgler...they want the Yuan to become the primary currency in the world.
I can see the future looking rather bleak for quite a number of countries. Big business has a lot to answer for...it is greed that has bought the economies of many nations to the point they are at now.
Cheers, Vince

We should bring back the good old Roman legion "DECIMATION" for those that lie, are corrupt, or just F**KING useless or inept. One in 10 get the chop (literally, none of this wimpy new age stuff) if ANY of them, lie, steal, take bribes or waste the oxygen of the general population. The problem would be solved in about a week at the current rate of bullshitting / backstabbing and phaffing around.
18 inches of cold steel right up the kyber, the line starts here to administer.
As for the Chinese, its not in their interest for the US to implode.
They hold most of the debt and that is a shite load of zero's after any number between 1 and 10,000,000 you guys go down and it will rock their little cotton chinese socks.
Also what would that bastion of good taste and entertainment WALMART do without cheap chinese crap to sell?

Not now Vince, the Chinese still need time to position their entire country as a first world country, there are still gaping holes in their system, rapid expansion in 30 years for a country of 1.6 billion is not enough. They need the competitive edge of a low yuan for now.
China is managed by a bunch of Engineers and Scientists who worked for a living before being hand picked at being the best at what they do to run the country. They are not made up of a bunch of Political Science major's with economists who want to make sure they make as much on a dollar as possible without regard for the rest of the country.
When their economy and they have 99% of their population out of the centuries of poverty they'll cash in the Yuan and make themselves strong. Till they they must toe the line.

Ok it's 2:30AM Monday morning, I can't sleep and I turn on the news;
The nation's top lawmakers and President Obama announced late Sunday they have reached a deal to raise the debt ceiling and dramatically curb federal spending.
"I want to announce that the leaders of both parties, in both chambers, have reached an agreement that will reduce the deficit and avoid default," Obama said Sunday night.
Obama said that while the process was messy, and had taken far too long, the nation would, in the end, avoid a costly default and economic catastrophe.
A short time before Obama spoke, Sens. Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell said that a framework had been agreed to.
"We can assure the American people tonight that the United States of America will not, for the first time in its history, default on its obligations," said McConnell, the top Republican in the Senate.
The announcements capped a frantic weekend of negotiations between congressional leaders and Obama administration officials.
But Obama cautioned that lawmakers' work was not done, and asked rank-and-file members of Congress to support the measure.So.....we got deal or we don't got a deal, it still has to be voted on. Why do they announce anything? Well for one thing the foreign markets sky-rocketed....what a PIA this thing is
A significant number of the body's most conservative Republicans and most liberal Democrats are expected to vote against the bill.
Lawmakers were being briefed on the proposal Sunday night, and it's expected to go up for votes on Monday.
After months of stalling, a breakthrough was finally achieved after negotiations picked up over the weekend.
Leaders of both parties had agreed that any deal to raise the debt ceiling should include long-term spending reductions to help control spiraling deficits. But they differed on both the timetable and requirements tied to certain cuts.
The agreement includes upfront spending cuts in the range of roughly $1 trillion. Well a trillion now and up to 3 trillion later, but is the 3 trillion later going to happen? A special congressional committee would recommend additional spending reductions no later than Thanksgiving.
If Congress fails to approve the recommended cuts, automatic, across-the-board cuts -- including both defense and Medicare -- would take effect. They just thought they'd throw that one in there, Oh and maybe your Mom won't get her Medicare check.....anyway I''m crossing my fingers and toes.

BLEEERRRRRCCCCHHH
That is absolutely disgusting.
Even on a younger woman with a more "attractive" figure it would still not be appropriate attire for that scenario. Doesn't this woman have any pride in her appearance...I guess not from what I just saw.
I would be the first to stand up and defend this woman's right to wear this outfit in the appropriate place, but unfortunately in a supermarket it just ain't right.
