I have only done limited testing of the Barnes TSX in my 308, but results look promising. Accuracy in my best loads is pretty good, but I have not tried to refine the load for the TSX. I plan on doing ... |

I agree with Dallen on the BT's. I shot a small doe this year with my 308 (120 lb) using 165 gr BT and the bullet broke all apart. Granted, it was a clean kill and the deer didn't go over 50 yards, bu ... |

I agree with Dimitri......why mess with a good thing? If you shoot the 158's well and are comfortable, I wouldn't change a thing. I have killed several deer with my 44 mag Ruger carbine with 180 gr @ ... |

In my experience, I'd say that IMR 4350 and H4350 are the most versatile powders. For the 270, although you can work up a fine load with 4350, it is not th ... |

I had shoulder surgery a few years back just before hunting season. Not wanting to miss hunting, I thought I'd use my little Savage 28 ga single shot for birds and my T/C hand gun for deer. All set, r ... |

I design my own sand bags (my wife actually does the sewing). I can't seem to make the "store bought" bags last. The swivel stud in the stock butt doesn't like bags I make mine out of nauga-hid ... |

A couple of questions come to mind:
1) Are you seating the bullets out close to the lands? If so, are you measuring the OAL from the ogive or the point?
2) Was it very hot while you were shooting? ... |

The power of the scope sort of depends on the quarry. If you are after ground hogs at 300-400 yards, the better scope you have, the more successful you will be. If you are in the deer woods where shot ... |

Another one to consider for the 30-06 is Nosler's new (this year) 165 gr Accubond. The Accubond is fairly priced and from the tests I've seen, it holds together pretty good. It is as accurate as their ... |

As far as when to FLR, You have answered your own question. When they get hard to chamber, it's time to think about it. It will vary by gun and how "hot" the load is as to how many times. I have a 308 ... |

Last year I saw a moose being tagged that was taken down by a 243 Win. It was shot by a 13-14 year old boy while his father stood by with a 30-06. The moose was a bull that went 890 lbs+.

Almost any sort of rest will do. It depends on the game being hunted. For squirrels, I like to lean up against a tree and use it for steadying the gun. For deer hunting, I prefer one of my tree stands ... |
