The P-1853 Enfield loaded with then issued RFG powder shot at a velocity of about 1,265fps.

Modern black powder made of Maple rather then Dogwood charcoal limits them to subsonic speeds.

Rifled barrels are another world out of shotguns.

With 1 MOA accuracy and out a sabot like Hornady's 12 ga SST at 1,341fps and 1,198ft-lbs at 200 yards.

That's more velocity and energy at 200 ya ...

I use Sierra Gamekings in my 308's since they ballistically match the Matchkings I use at the range.

I use mono 8lb test most pf the time. Including salmon fishing. I lose fish due to it but works well for most fish here.

I've never imagined using 4lb test!
