Please excuse me if you don't want to hear this and I did sort of resign from my political thrashings but sometimes I just can't stand to sit by and watch.

The shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is the subject and what I wanted to unfold to you is the school and law enforcement have an agreement to willfully allow for criminal behavior in the school system. There is an official Broward County policy from Nov. 5th 2013, called Collaborative Agreement on School Discipline.

One of the statements of the Agreement says "The use of arrests and referrals to the criminal justice system may decrease a student's chance of graduation, entering higher education, joining the military and getting a job"

So it's not the behavior that led to the arrest....it's the arrest.

It also specifically cites "students of color" as victims of the old, racist policy of treating criminal behavior criminally.

The superintendent of schools there a few months ago bragged about how student arrests had plummeted under his bold management. The district had "the highest number of school-related arrests in the state." But today, he boasted, Broward has "one of the lowest rates of arrest in the state." By the simple expedient of ignoring criminal behavior, student arrests had declined by a whopping 78 percent. CNN interview

I don't know how many of you watched the CNN Q&A with the sheriff and the NRA spokeswoman. Very upset crowd and lots of yelling with the NRA spokesperson taking the brunt of it. What got me more was the reaction of the Broward County Sheriff. He bobbed and weaved, uncharacteristically of an NRA supporter, gun owner and County Sheriff. He tended to blame the NRA for not supporting stricter gun regulations.

The NRA spokesperson (Dana Loesch) was blasted by the audience but so capable, honest and forthright in her convictions and she blasted back at the sheriff and his inability to do his job. Quite a CNN moment and if CNN wanted to embarrass, malign and blame the NRA they couldn't have chosen a more hostile environment to do it in. She did her job well and there is a great interview with her and George Stephanopoulos on YouTube that you must see. Georgie and NRA Hearing smirky quibbles like this is exactly like the jems we hear between any national news source and their opposition.

It's pure nonsense and obvious negative-nancy politics and obvious pandering I only hope the majority of Americans can see through it and don't take national news very seriously.

I probably shouldn’t get myself started on this one...

Manipulating arrest stats by ignoring crimes and allowing them to continue is (from other sources I’ve read) a common practice in th public school system in this country. It should be punishable with jail time at the least and, in this case, murder charges for the school administration and the Sheriffs Department.

thats not even funny....let bad behaviour slide to drop crime rate.... hmmm wonder how thats going to pan out, not.
we have child at home,no longer welcome in school system as they hit another student....ONCE.....admitedly it was a doozey and split skin around eye socket.... but one punch and there is any chance of future education gone. parents then left to deal with child full stop. why do they get into bad behaviour in first place????? because our stupid laws DONT ALLOW us to stop it.I dont advocate child bashing ,never have never will, but when the bra burning cardigan wearing brigade took away our rights as a parent to give smack around the bum for misdemeaners etc it made parenting a whole lot harder.
you have action but no concequence.... well none a agitated child gives a flying fig about in heat of moment.so you CANT pinch behaviour in the bud as any of the "approoved" methods of disapline involve taking stuff away...when you get "so what here take this too,and this" you have nothing left. then the law tells you you cant restrain child either.......to stop behaviour,10 years after this was approoved.....
yeah touchy subject for me.....

I hate it when that happens. My impression after the referenced tragic school shooting was very similar to my feelings after 9/11. Everything that we needed on those critical days to keep us safe simply failed. We spent a lot of money for police, security, intelligence, first responders and apprehension only to find out that our money was wasted. How tragic. Now we see the blame game misdirected at the NRA and certain firearms. Let us hope that somehow that changes and we focus on the real failures an address them. All the best...

Russia did this for years! It had the lowest national reported crime rateand the lowest reported unemployment rates in the world. The UK only reports violent crimes that are convicted through the courts. If they never arrest the perp then there is no crime.

It makes their country look better but the people - their subjects - suffer because of it.
The USA reports crimes that have occurred whether or not an arrest is made and whether or not there is a conviction. This is why it is pure ignorance to compare the crime stats in one country with those of another country.

The part about the UK isn't actually correct.
What the article I saw referred to was the murder rate, as murder, manslaughter, unlawful killing & others only become defined as such after either a criminal conviction or a coroner's inquest.
What this means is a murder committed in say, November 2017 will only be recorded as such up to a year later, or several years in the case of a major incident such as last year's terrorist attacks.

The Florida state Supreme Court in Feb 2011 were called to examine the functioning of the Broward County School System (after two previous Supreme Court Grand Juries about the same matters), here's an excerpt from the 2011 Grand Jury decision;

The evidence we have been· presented concerning the malfeasance, misfeasance and
nonfeasance of the Broward County School Board (Board) and of the senior management of the
Broward County School District, (District) and ofthe gross mismanagement and apparent ineptitude
of so many individuals at so many levels is so overwhelming that we cannot imagine any level of
incompetence that would explain what we have seen. Therefore we are reluctantly compelled to
conclude that at least some ofthis behavior can best be explained by corruption of our officials by
contractors, vendors and their lobbyists. Moreover, many ofthe problems we identified in our inquiry
are longstanding and have been pointed out by at least two previous Grand Juries. But for the
Constitutional mandate that requires an elected School Board for each District, our first and foremost
recommendation would have been to abolish the Broward County School Board altogether.

Sorry this doesn't cut and paste very well but there are 51 pages of testimony and every bit of it is so compelling to read. The school system is not at fault for the shooting but it's reasonable to believe it is at fault for no proper reaction to the shooter's many many violent actions and threats against the students.

There is an open lawsuit now for the sheriff's dept to release the exterior surveillance video. You know jest tryin to protect their jobs.

I found this on Michelle Malkin's web site where she has a pdf file of the Supreme Court summary

If I remember correctly, the Sheriffs Department is under no obligation to release the video, and he has stated that it may never be released. He’s in full blown CYA mode and is using any tactic he can to deflect his departments role in this tragedy, including blaming the NRA.

I’m not bashing LEO’s in general, I have several friends and family members who have chosen that career path. My issue is with this particular Sheriff.
I watched a portion of CNN’s “town hall” and was disgusted with the entire spectacle. Of note to me was the segment where Sheriff Israel tried to put the blame on the NRA while on-stage with Dana and she immediately turned it back on his departments failure to do anything after repeated calls regarding the shooter. If looks could kill....

Then to find out he had knowledge that his deputies didn’t enter the school and were staging outside before the “town hall” really sent me over the edge, and he placed the blame squarely on one particular deputy, who was basically forced out, probably to keep him from talking to the press. I have no idea if radio transmissions are typically recorded, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a staging order was given to the responding deputies. Why else would they stage outside while the local PD rushed in to the building immediately upon arrival.....

According to the Miami Herald, a “staging” order was give, however, it is still not clear whether the BSO Captain that issued the order knew that the shooter had already left the building...

A January 2014 "Dear Colleague" letter sent jointly by Obama's Education and Justice Departments to all public schools threatening lawsuits over racial discrimination in student discipline, came after years of his administration browbeating schools for their failure to discipline every race of student at the same rate. A government report found that five percent of white students were suspended annually, compared with 16 percent of black students.

Really? and more blacks than Asians? To comply, schools would have to stop suspending black kids for breaking a teacher's jaw, but suspend Asians for dropping an eraser.

One of the administration's models was Broward County, Florida. Which is kind of important, now that we know that it was Broward's official policy to make it impossible to arrest students like Nikolas Cruz, thus allowing him to amass a cache of firearms, walk into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and murder 17 people.

Broward County's innovative idea of eliminating school discipline captivated Obama's Department of Education. It was expressly cited by the department's Civil Rights Division with the notation: "New model for other jurisdictions?"

Broward Schools Superintendent Robert W. Runcie humbly noted that the district was receiving "invitations from around the country, including from The White House and Federal Office of Civil Rights, to share details about the historic reforms" on school discipline.

The next time Democrats control Congress and the presidency, we will have racial quotas for prisons, too. When that happens, you better hope the government hasn't taken your guns.

Leftist policies have caused thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of citizens to suffer from the acts of criminals who are barely (if at all) punished for their behaviour.
For whatever reason, black Americans commit more crimes pro rata than whites or hispanics.
Surely therefore, it is reasonable to expect a greater number of them to be charged, tried & if found guilty, punished for their acts.
Oh, I forgot: I was thinking logically, rather than allowing my 'feelings' to sway my decision making (probably a good thing too, as my 'feelings' regarding violent criminals involve a rope & a trapdoor...).

Aw heck Mike,
Hangin' puts a lot of wear to a rope and a rope costs a bunch more than a arrow. After you're done with the arrow you can sharpen it up and use it again.

Ya know it's taken a while for me to get accustomed to the left frame of mind because of the way I think (as Eng.Mike points out) logically. I remember years ago talking with a lefty friend of mine who always came up with the excuse of something being morally right as opposed to legal or not legal. Of course it was his version of morality not mine. My version includes law abiding and his does not. Matter of fact law has nothing to do with what is right or wrong if you're a lefty. You have to take that into consideration with such issues as sanctuary cities and sanctuary states, deporting illegal immigrants and disavowing our right to bear arms.

The pampered few who cry about duck hunting, deer hunting and those poor folks just looking to better their lives by entering the USA are the ones that think they can get away with anything they want if they throw their intimidation into the soup sort of like a hit and run driver, because they sure don't stick around for a one on one fight. Perfect example is ANTIFA. You don't hear about them on the national news because they're doing a good job for the left and we don't want to expose what they're really doing.

They dress in black, cover their faces, only show up in a mob and wreak havoc and destruction where ever there's a conservative speaker at a college or in other words they're destroying our right to free speech. If confronted they run and hide trailing their baseball bats and knives after beating the crowd to near death. An anti fascism group that uses (you could say) a form of fascism, they are like anti nazi's acting like nazi's against nazi's.....something like that HERE'S a short video (sorry it's from CNN) that sort of tries to explain.

They are little marshmallows, little girls and boys that think if they throw a temper tantrum and cause enough pain and suffering something positive? will become of it? Reminds me of the recent school shooting where the students came out in mass to yell about their ignorance of gun control issues. Hoping legislature is run by emotions, another one of those misguided moral issues.

we had doco on the ANTIFA shown over here the other day.....painted them in nice light really..... saw through it myself. as for the white supremist movement/Nazi wannabies...... well they are just plain dumb or just want excuse for a fight knuckle dragging neandathals. how anyone takes them seriously or indeed puts up with them is beyond me...they would get a butt whopping if they tried that over here, plenty heaps of big brown boys n gals who would just love to tear them apart.
thier supposed leader when asked why he had more right to America than the native tribes who it was taken off...said something along the lines of they were conqured fair n square and thats just how it is.
