Hi, New to this site and I wanted to compare ballistics and have no idea how to get bullet coefficients etc. Where do I find this for the ammo. Not on the box. Looking for Remington 7mm08 140 gr Core-Lokt. Any help and advice welcome?

Its harder when it comes to factory ammo, you have 3 options.
1. contact the mfg and see if they have the BC for your ammo's bullet.
2. google around and see if someone out there has figured it out
3. Shoot over a cronograph, get the average muzzle and 100 yard velocities and use the build-in feature of PointBlank to calculate the BC for you.

By persistent Googling, ask and you shall receive.
R7M081 Remington® Express®
140gn Pointed Soft Point Core-Lokt®
0.390 Ballistic coefficient.

Now you just have to shoot it from your gun over a chronograph to find out what the muzzle velocity is. without that you still have nothing. In my guns the muzzle velocity in no way compares to what is claimed by the manufacturer.

By the way, there is a good article about ballistic coefficients in the March "Shooting Times".

Welcome aboard The Nut Wakefield...it's good to see another KIWI on here. You will no doubt hear from Elvis and Radar shortly...they too are from the Land of the Long White Cloud.
In the meantime, grab a beer and pull up a stump mate. Don't be shy, feel free to chuck in your two bob's worth and pass on your experience.

I've e-mailed Remington about ballistic coefficients a couple of times and got a prompt response.

It's a little over three years since it was last updated, but here's an excel spreadsheet that lists quite a few.

Ummm, 300 yards = 274.3 meters...
300 meters = 328 yards
Just sayin'
I agree 100% that you don't know exactly what your particular rifle will do at any distance until you actually shoot it that far.

BC changes with velocity so the only way to be sure in the end is to go & shoot the load/bullet at the distances you intend to use it. Even then there are other things altering the bullet's trajectory.
Case in point was a friend's elk in 2007.
Was a 600yd plus shot & it took the elk in the spine when he aimed for a heart shot using his range card.
What he hadn't taken into account was the 4,000' difference in elevation between his local range & where he shot the elk. Air was a lot thinner so the bullet met less resistance.

The Quick Loads Bullet Database has Remington as well as other factory bullets in it !!!
Listed BC's are often criticized for being higher than reality...... use them as a starting point and for comparative purpose and you shouldn't be too disappointed.
