Lots of tracks around this water hole.

So I thought I was see what would come in. This hog was one of two that came in yesterday. They are getting wise to the truck and run when I get to close. So longer shots was the ticket for the day. I saw the hogs and pull up as close as I thought was safe. Brought my Ruger M77 in 243 Win up to my shoulder. Had scope on 12x and waited for a shot. Placed the cross hairs behind her right shoulder and let the Nosler 70gr BT go. I saw the hog fall then the other one run into the paster. And then the sound of the bullet hitting it mark finally reached my ears. Must have been 3 to 4 seconds this all took place. She was drt just the way I like them.

certainly looks like the round did its job...not a projectile choice Ive heard much about, most guys over here go 100grn or the exelent 87 grain loadings. sure looks like it works for you.Im guessing around the 50lb mark??? good eating size.

vmaster59, excellent shot! I shot a 350+ pound boar like this with my 270 at 200 yards, just behind the shoulder/armpit. It ran hard until I couldn't track it anymore. I'm shot my next boar in the neck and have been trying to get myself to keep taking myself to take those shots. Larger boars must be much tougher.

I'm still learning about hog hunting. Are those food pellets you put out?

Thanks guys. slimjim I try to shot all of the behind the shoulder or in the ear. I think bullet type as well as placement go hand in hand. That is cake we feed cows.

Well done vmaster...that 70gr BT wouldn't be a Hornady by any chance would it mate? Have a mate who swore by the performance of the Hornady 70gr projectile, although I use the Remington 85gr SP in my .243 Win.
