After shooting at squirrels last year with my sons Crickett a friend and I discovered that it wasn't terribly accurate with the peep sight. On top of that my son has shot more with a scope then open sights so I opted to put a scope on his rifle. In January I bought a Simmons 22 mag scope for it. Perfect scope, inexpensive, straight 4 power. I was rather disappointed with how large the scope was on such a small rifle and the rings that came with the scope were far to high for it. So I was doing some checking recently to dig up some shorter scope rings when I came across a neat little scope made by Tasco. Its a 3-7x20mm scope with rings for $17, less then half the price of the Simmons. The reviews were pretty good (4 out of 5 stars) although some people complained that they could not adjust the cross hairs and had trouble getting it set so they could see through it clearly. One guy even complained that it would be better on a air rifle because every time he fired the gun it would move the cross hairs. I figured the majority of the people had good luck aside from a few bad reviews so I went right down to Walmart to pick one up and they did not have them here. So while I was in Bend last weekend I checked out their Walmart and sure enough they had like 10 of them. As soon as I got home I mounted it on his rifle and was very happy with how it looked. I shouldered it and was very happy with the sight acquisition.
Long story short, I took my son out today with his rifle. I sighted it in and let him go to town with it. We had a lot of fun and I discovered that the boy is deadly lol. Unfortunately we did not get any pictures of him or I while we were out but I did get this pic of him at home with his rifle. After the experience I had with the scope I would not hesitate to get another for one of my other 22's.

My very first rifle had a scope on it, I didn't know how to sight it in very well but that same rifle (Marlin 30-30) and scope is a tack driver and I'm proud of it. He looks like he's got a prize in hand, and he does.

Father and son fun is always good for both hearts and souls. I have the same scope on my. 22 Savage and it is solid. BTW Inexpensive regular rifle scopes are never good choices for most airguns as the forward recoil knocks many of them out of alignment.

Most people that purchased that scope that wrote reviews put them on air rifles and were happy but I bet the few that were unhappy with it put them on air rifles and had issues as you said Mac. I know one review that said the 22 was to much recoil for it though and kept knocking it off. I can assure you that is not the case for this one. I am pretty sure I am going to invest in a couple more for the 10/22 I have and one that I am putting together. I may also buy one to mount on my moms Remington bolt action. Its dead nuts accurate for a 22 and if I top it with that scope I should be able to slay anything I want lol.
I am making sure I spend lots of time with my son these days because he has a little brother on the way and I don't want him to feel as though we forgot him. I am so excited to take him grouse hunting next year.

tlo7mm, keep it up regardless. They grow up too fast as it is.

Thanks Bushy. I will definitely keep it up slim. I had boys so I had my own hunting partners lol.
