condolences on Pams passing.
finished rifle is a beauty as all your rifles are...Im really intregued by the low sound signature using muzzle break.
have fun with the new rifle,if you can prise it out of wifes hands that is.

Thank you Elvis, on both counts...

I built this rifle more for my wife than me, and as long as she has fun shooting it, I'll keep loading ammo for it...

1,100fps is just crying out to be shot through a suppressor.

I don't have one and really don't want one!

I can make one as good as better than any that are on the market, but I have no need for one.

I use' em all the time.
Not having to wear hearing protection when hunting without the inevitable hearing loss is a big plus & using subsonics is even better. Makes bunny bashing with the .22 quieter than using the air rifle.

I do all my bunny bashing around here with my .177 caliber air rifle, and even though it may not be as quiet as a suppressed .22, I don't have to worry about a ricochet and bullets going where I don't want them to!

My air rifle is good out to 75 yards on bunnies and squirrels, and if I can't get any closer than that, then I don't need to be hunting anyways...

I'm all for using a suppressor, and they are a great aid in helping protect one from further hearing loss, but like I said earlier, I just don't want one. I have an endless supply of titanium bar stock as well as the proper tooling for machining and manufacturing suppressors, and until or IF it ever becomes legal to own one without having to have a tax stamp, I will never fool with them...

That tax stamp & associated BS is plain dumb. I hope it gets ditched in the near future.

You're right English Mike, it is!

They keep talking about ditching all that BS, and if they do, then I will put a suppressor on all of my hunting rifles and hunting handguns, and I'll also start manufacturing my own line of supressors, and at a much more reasonable price!

The prices asked in the US are horrendous.
Many between three & five times the cost here. I paid $35 for my latest .22rf suppressor & $325 for a top line centrefire suppressor for my .243 & both prices include the standard 20% VAT we're robbed with here on most things apart from food.
My plan is at some point to work up a subsonic .243 load for foxing on a couple of "sensitive" (anti gun neighbours) places I look after.

Or maybe I should use an even louder gun just to wind them up even more.... Evil or Very Mad

Deer Sniper, what air rifle and pellet are you using? I've got a Gammo and use 8 grain pellets to keep them subsonic otherwise its like shooting a 22 LR with the supersonic "clap" I feel 25 yards is about max and I'm only 50% DRT on 1 shot.

slimjim,

mine is a Gamo Whisper Fusion Elite .177 caliber air rifle...

I shoot 2 different pellets -

Crosman .177 Gold Flight Penetrator 8.5 gr. Lead Free....... I have killed crows, armadillos, rabbits doves and squirrels out to 75 yards with these pellets...

Gamo Red Fire .177 - 7.8 gr. with polymer tip....... I have killed everything mentioned above with these pellets, out to a maximum distance of 62 yards...

If there is much over a 5 mph wind, I don't bother shooting, as these little lightweight pellets blow off target to easily...

I have tried heavier weight pellets, but my gun prefers the lighter and faster pellets...

Both pellets will shoot under an inch at 50 yards for 5 shots, and if there is no wind at all, they will shoot right at an inch at 75 yards...

Yes, it can seem a bit noisy at times, but nothing like a .22. I like it best though, because I have yet to hear a ricochet from any pellet, at any target, and at any distance! I have 6 neighbors houses within 250 yards of where I live, and that is why I shoot an air rifle instead of a .22. I have to go to a range or on a game reserve if I want to shoot my .22's...

English Mike...those prices are on par with what we pay here where there is no silly regulations and plenty of compitition in the market...looking at roughly $400 NZ to send rifle away and it comes back fitted with suppressor and a thread protector. the threading bit $60 on its own.

Around here, a "good" suppressor for a high powered rifle is $1,200 to $1,500 plus your $200 tax stamp, plus a 9 month wait on it!!!

Glad to see the wait time has diminished. I had to wait 15 months.

These are the pellets that shoot best in my Gamo but mine is not as accurate as yours. Squirrel vitals are pretty small. I think my longest kill has been 30 yards. I could do rabbits a bit farther but the squirrels are the vermin (rats with tails) that need to be reduced. Neighbors are 25 yards away so shots have to be planned including consideration for a follow up and that the squirrel needs to expire in my yard not the neighbor's.
