Had a very attractive visitor to my yard this morning. I was sitting in my kitchen when he flew down and sat on the arm of an outside chair a couple of yards behind me. He just sat there while whistled and talked to him.

He is an Australian King Parrot, native to this area.

That's really neat Vince, beautiful birds. Very good pictures too!

No mate, no Queen, but she wasn’t far away…the pair have been around here for awhile now.

We have a family here, beautiful birds, very friendly and chirpy
Not as common as the Scaley Breasted or Rainbows

You don’t often see the King Parrots close to civilisation, but the Rainbow Lorikeets and Scalies are proliferating in Brisbane…there are thousands around our area, along with Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, the odd Galah and a couple of breeding pairs of Black Cockatoos (hardly seen, but often heard). I’ve even seen a Princess Parrot here once…but only once.
