Well, here I am, on the road again. About a month ago I did a long drive fro Brisbane Qld to deliver my Mum’s ashes to a cemetery in Wagga Wagga NSW for them to be interred in her parent’s grave, then on to Canberra, and Ulladulla NSW via Bungendore, Braidwood and Batemans Bay, to see my brother in hospital with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer, after which I dropped another brother back in Newcastle NSW, the back home to Brisbane. All up that is somewhere between 4000 and 5000km round trip.
Up to today…I’m back in Ulladulla NSW with my brother again…the cancer has accelerated and word from the Doctor is that he is “at the end of his life”. My brother is ex Army and was a paratrooper, so he was pretty fit…not anymore…he looks totally drained and exhausted. Looks like I’ll be staying here until the conclusion of everything, although I don’t think that will be anymore than a fortnight or so, then the funeral. After that I will drive back to Brisbane. All up, that’s a lot of miles in the past couple of months, but it’s what you do for family.
Oh well, time to head back to the Hospital and see how he’s going. Later guys.

Sad to hear Vince. The memory of sitting beside Mrs. Wolf in the hospital two years ago is still a vivid memory that I can't shake. I didn't leave her except to eat for over a week. Got no wise words for you to make it better, there is none. Do the best you can, stay strong

Thank you to all for your prayers and thoughts. It’s not easy, and I must admit not something I am looking forward to going through. Am I bad for wishing it was all over and finished now? The stress and angst is taking its toll on me, but I’m strong enough (I hope) to weather it till the end. |
No Vince you are not. I just went through it with my brother, and it was more of a blessing than watch them go through the Agoney .

Once again, thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers.
My brother is putting on a brave face and has a very positive attitude, whilst accepting that his passing is fast approaching…makes it a little easier for us.
Biggest problem we are now facing is my youngest brother. He is a Narcissistic Sociopath…that should say it all to what I am facing. He believes he is in charge and calling the shots, telling us what will happen. Frankly, I’m ready to pack up my car and drive home and try to put it all behind me. However, my brother has asked me to deliver his eulogy at his funeral, so it wouldn’t be fair to him were I to leave. It’s true what they say…You can pick your friends, but you can’t pick your family (but you can drop them like a piece of dirt if needs be!).
Oh well, another day of stress and work helping to clean out my brothers storage shed.

We’ve completed what we needed to do for the cleanup of the storage shed, and of course, the youngest brother is still sniping at us, trying to push us into doing something he can use to his favour. Frankly, I’m at the point where I am ready to jump in my car and head north to home. The car is all packed and my mind is on the road north. Th only thing is I don’t want to disappoint my brother, or cause him any angst as he has enough on his plate to deal with now as the cancer progressed. You have no idea how hard it is to bite my tongue, say nothing, and try to keep a cool head. It’s creating no end of stress for me, and we all know what the description of stress is…
Stress is the situation created when the mind overrides the bodies desire to choke the life out of an ars3hole that desperately needs it!!!
Oh well, have another beer and try to relax…not doing anything or going anywhere today, including the hospital because the youngest brother will be there.

Vince...Our thoughts are with you. Deb told me to tell you to take the Narcissistic Sociopath behind the barn, slap him upside the head a few times. She says it will make you feel better.

Oh, I’d love to do that, but unfortunately mate, that is exactly what the little tu6d wants me to do so he can then take Court action and go for Criminal Compensation…he’s done it before to a guy and was awarded $10,000 compo by the Court. There is another way of dealing with him, but I’m not prepared to spend the rest of my life in jail over a little sh1t like him…he just ain’t worth it.
I remember a mate saying to me one time: “There are some people still alive, but only because it is illegal to kill them!”
My brother fancies himself as a bit of a fighter, and one night he had a go at his daughter’s boyfriend who he disliked and didn’t believe was good enough to be a part of his family…long story short…the guy sat him on his ars3 with one punch, which everybody smiled at because it was a long time coming. That guy, although now married to my niece and has two children, is not considered a part of the family and not welcome at my brother’s place. The guy couldn’t care less, and he’s a nice guy.
I’m staying away from the hospital were my brother is because the youngest will probably be there. I’ll ring the hospital tomorrow to make sure he’s not there and look at heading up to see my sick brother. Depending on the reception I get, I’ll consider downing tools and drive home.
