Well, I’m heading home tomorrow…a 750 mile trip. The brother I have with me runs out of blood pressure medication tomorrow night, so he has to be back at his place to renew his prescription. It’s a long trip, but I’m looking forward to getting home.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. My brother seems to be holding his own, although he’s not eating much because it makes him ill…a side effect of the chemo no doubt. The Dr has stopped all medication other than pain and nausea relief, so it all comes down to time now.

Well, I’m back home now…and slept like a baby last night. I had breaks along the way Tiks…stopped and went for a walk to ensure all, was good. The road trip was great from Newcastle up until the Gold Coast, 110 kph most of the way on the freeway…then I hit traffic because a broken down HiAce van reduced the freeway to one lane. Confused Mad

I’m glad I’m home, and away from my, youngest brother, a narcissistic sociopath. I tried ringing my brother in hospital through the week without any luck and found that my youngest brother had blocked me in my sick brother’s phone. I sorted that when I went in to see him through the week. Tried to call my brother again this morning and couldn’t get through, so I’m assuming my youngest brother, who was at the hospital yesterday, has blocked me again. He wants total control of everything, excluding the rest of us totally. Mad Sad

Oh well, my next trip down to there will be for my brother’s funeral, after which I will wipe my youngest brother from my life entirely. Cool Cool

Well, my sick brother passed away on Friday 20 Sep 2024 after his battle with pancreatic cancer. In some cases it’s a blessing in disguise as he is no longer suffering or in pain. The unfortunate part is it has now opened up another side of things…my youngest brother!

I haven’t been given funeral details as yet, but because of the way the narcissistic sociopath is carrying on, with veiled threats and pure nastiness, I am very seriously considering not attending my brother’s funeral…for the sake of the well-being of all concerned, myself included. I’ve reached the end of my tether with him and can’t take any more of his attitude, comments or veiled threats.

The downside to this is not farewelling my brother, a fellow ex-soldier, in the way he wished, with me talking at his funeral. This is causing me no end of angst, anger and depression. I’m not happy at loosing my brother, but that is not causing me any great grief, it’s the attitude of the narcissistic sociopath that is the problem. Other than that, I’m all good.

I am sorry to hear that Vince, he is no longer suffering at least.
My condolences to you and your family.

So sorry to hear that Vince. Condolences to you and family.

As for your piece of shite brother, go to the funeral and be there for your brother, make a eulogy, have a drink for him, get a rest and RTU.

Good luck, and again so sorry Mate.

Thanks mate…that is exactly what I’m going to do. Hopefully my scumbag brother will stay right away from me because I’m at the end of my tether and ready to snap.

Damn, another long drive in front of me this weekend, but at least this is the last time I intend driving down to that part of Australia. My brother’s funeral is on Tuesday 1 October, wake to follow afterwards, then the next morning I’m back on the road home. So will end another chapter of my life.

Yes mate, thanks. A long trip, but good, and now it’s complete. The upside to the trip home was using only 6.99 litres/100km between Newcastle and Brisbane…I love my diesel Volvo, and it’s not a hybrid.

The funeral went well, as did the wake…many beers were consumed in his memory. Cheers Cheers My youngest brother stayed well away from me, which suited me perfectly. I had a wonderful conversation with my niece, his daughter, and it was apparent that she identified problems with his attitude as well. I stressed to her that regardless of any differences and animosity between my brother and me, I didn’t want the cousins to “take on our animosity” or lose contact with one another.

As an aside…the only part of the road that hasn’t changed all that much between Sydney and Nowra is Appin Road and the Mount Ousley Road. On the return trip I made a point of stopping at the Gerringong Pub and had a beer with Michael Cronin the ex Parramatta footballer…his Dad and my Dad were friends back in the day when Dad was living at Gerroa, Berry and Foxground.

“Got through it OK”…in a manner of speaking mate. I’ve suffered badly with PTSD since arriving home last Thursday. Why…not 100% sure, but I’d hazard a guess at saying even though it’s all over and done with now, the stress of everything leading up to the funeral has taken its toll and now that I’m “relaxed”, it has all come crashing down. Give it a week or so and hopefully things will be back to normal…hopefully.
