I do recall that when I referred to us as Canuckistanians (an American senator's appellation for us if I recall) that Dimitri warned me that some people might find that offensive...hmm....I find them offensive. I think it's all a laugh. Politically correct can kiss my....ahem neighbor's wife..Wanna call me something, call me Stu that's m'name, or tracker, that's my nickname. Can call me friends with 1895 and Bushy and they're on different sides of the border!! Invade Mehico? OK, I'll bring the usual Canajun contribution to invasions....beer!!!

(Now if I happened to be in the right place at the right time and some big old buck turned and happened to step south of the 49th parallel, would I decline the shot? Oh yes officer, absolutely ROFL

As Canadian's we tend to be proud of our history (well most of us) so we tend to fight off comperisons to the Americans or the British, but really we Canadians are probably somewhere inbetween but at the same time unique, we have had alot of British infulance in the past, and more recently American influance.

A Canadian-American country would be interesting, could get the 2nd Ammendment into Canada. Cool

Pretty odd as I was born in Sydney Australia and now live in Brisbane Australia. Laughing

Just goes to show how "stats" can be interpreted to suit the whims of the organisation collecting them. Very Happy

Gave me an Inland North, with a very high Midland type.

The funny thing is if I am around someone for any amount of time I can pick them up right now and the vocal sounds would get me pegged for a local. When I was up in Alaska(Togiak) about three weeks before I found out about some bio family about 20 minutes east Moorehead, MN I fit in perfectly up in that part as I could make the sounds just like them as I had picked it up in Alaska from the Yupik natives, and they(relatives) were very surprised I was from South West Iowa, both areas had abut the same type of vocalizations it was kind of bizzare. Far-Gho, Nort-Da-koTah and snho, you wanna' come with?; let's see what else is there? Oh lots of different things. I once talked with a linguistics student at ISU and she was taught that the folks in this part of the country actually have no accent as we tend to pronounce words almsot exactly as they should be pronounced. Had a room-mate at Iowa Sate who was from Janesville, Whi-Skon-sin who got me to talking like him. So I am not sure just which "accent" I have as it varies according to who I am talking too. You call it I can pretty much do it except for most of the Asian stuff the vowels are so different from what I am used to, but I can say some Chinese words very well. My favorties are Scots and Irish with a good New Zealand and Austrailia, and pretty decent eastern Europe. I have not had the opportunity to try out the Scandanavian types as the only person I knew who could really teach me has been gone since last August but I know I could probably pick it up fairly decently. Had one gal at a local winery tell me I should try out for some acting roles as I sounded "unbelievably perfect."
