Shooting I was wandering if anyone had any ideas on what kindof riffle I should look for since I'm left handed. I also can't realy work a bolt action one since I've broken my right arm to many times and don't have the strength to move one. (To give you an idea how bad the strength issue is my handshake has become something like a dead fish fish in the last few years.) My 30-30 lever action is great because it's top eject and goes over my head, great for the lefty thing bad for policing your shells. But my first riffle was a .22 self loading Marlin. It's a rigth hand eject and since it is a self-loader when those little things are ejected they head straight for my right arm or down my shirt. Does anyone know if they make them in left hand eject or am I stuck getting little burns that look like cigaret burns when I shot the thing. Also do they make bolts that are designed for lefties? I am a fellow lefty. I own alot of left handed bolt action rifles. I dont understand your comment on your right arm being broken and not being able to open a bolt? With a left handed rifle you work the bolt with the left hand. But if thats not an option you can look into a Rugar #1, they are single shot but just terrific rifles and work well from both right or left handed shooting.

As for .22's look into a browning takedown or norinco copy. They are semi auto but eject directly out the bottom.

And a few others.

Also being weak in your right hand shouldn't matter when shooting a bolt action rifle, I don't use my left hand to cycle the action on a right handed bolt action. Instead get a good sling like a M1907 Military sling and learn to use it by putting your hand through the middle loop and wrap it around your arm so your arm is taking the pressure from the rifle wanting to move back so you shouldn't even need to be holding the rifle with your right hand execpt to steady it. Smile

well good lord my uncle and grandfather have been lying to me. the told me I would never find a left handed bolt and that I would just have to deal with using my right hand on a right handed bolt even if I had trouble opening the thing. Mad Mad Evil or Very Mad Flame My relatives told me i needed to "learn to adapt" to shooting right handed too. Well that didn't happen so now I'll go searching for the left handed bolts. Party
Thanks for all the riffle ideas. I have a feeling it's going to be one of the first things I buy when I get my first paycheck from teaching.

Bushmaster,

Savage didn't put left handed rifle pictures on their website for the left handed rifles and just used the same ones they put on the right handed versions. Smile

Near as I was able to find out, Remington only made a lefty 243 BDL for 2 years, 1993 and 1994. I found a mint condition one for sale in Hawaii that only had 2 boxes through it. The guy threw in a 4x12 Leupold w/ rings & bases for $600 total ... smoking deal Smile

I have a Ruger MKII in 270 Winchester that I am rather fond of and a couple of blackpowder guns from Thompson Center and Cabelas that are all left handed. I also like my Ithica slug gun for its bottom ejection, which makes it go either way!

A couple of days late in catching this topic, but Sako make Tikkas, the T3 Lite is available in left hand bolt. They are guaranteed to shoot 3 shots in an inch at a hundred with premium ammo.

Mate has a R/H one in 7mm-08 which shoots the inch at 200.

I have a lefty in 243 on order!

Cheers Garry.

Hi, Lefty bolts are great, Remington is my preference for lefty bolts.
I just recently got rid of my big guns one was browning Med. left handed in 375 H & H I owned it for over 10 years.
Savage quality in the last couple of years has really improved amd I just purchased my first one in FLV 204 ruger.
Last fall I purchased a 700 cdl and then had a remington clip system installed. This rifle is 270 win. with a 24" barrel and it is the most accurate remington I have ever shot it giving me 1/2" @ 100 yds.
I was shooting O&U shotguns but 2 years ago a bought a Binelli in left hand SBE II this shotgun has made me forget about most other shotguns.
