Nah, it doesn't take much to leave enough to get someone started. When I was up north I used to leave buried food stashes (canned goods) behind too and mark them. Oftentimes I'd wind up back at the same site and dig up my own stash or find someone had left something else. This was back in the deep bush, trapper's territory not like highway accessible campgrounds or anything, but I try to stick to the firewood rule when I'm in a regular campground too. Got a grandson to teach now, so I want him to do things the right way.

Rudy,
I wish you and your son luck 5-0 is a great start. I wish Bobby's boys could do as well as 5-0.

I will be going through Navarre in the morning and coming back through Navarre in the afternoon. Going to shoot sporting clays with the guys over at the range in Pace.
Ed

Bushy and Vince, et al, absolutely. I usually try to do something extra for a campsite when I leave, maybe split and stack a bit of wood for the next guy or something like that, hopefully people will follow the "pay it forward"

The sort of public campsites I frequent usually don't have provision for wood fires, usually gas or electric BBQs, so I can't leave any timber. However when I leave my campsite on the private property I hunt there is always a stack of split and ready to be split timber left behind for both the property owner if he wants to use it and also my next visit. Its only common courtesy to do what you do. I've said it before, and I'll say it again....the attitudes of people in this website make me proud to call them mate.

Cheers, Vince

Rudy,
Yes, the state range. Glenn who runs the range, had his shop broken into last week and $6k in guns taken. I do not think they have cought the culprits as yet.

I've gotten into the habit of keepin a trash bag with me anytime i'm in the woods, whether it's a weeklong camping trip or an afternoon of squirel hunting. I guess my time in the Mark Twain National Forest with a DI screaming "IF GOD DIDN'T PUT IT THERE YOU BETTER PICK IT UP" must be stuck in my head....

I like that line from your old DI. I think I may incorporate it into my own way of things. I do the firewood thing as well. I have been in places where there was NO WOOD around; luckily I called my mom and dad who were few miles away and "invited" them for coffee but if they wanted good coffee they needed to bring wood, HE HE! They did and we had a good time for a few hours drinking campfire coffee and I am not really a coffee drinker.
