I'm lucky in that I don't have to worry about hunting seasons... consequently I never "store" my firearms, only put them in the gunsafe ready for their next outing.
But then again, I don't have a 100 acre backyard either, so to shoot I either have to travel about 60 miles round trip to go to the range or "go bush" to the property that I have permission to hunt (about 500 miles round trip). Oh yeah, and I don't have all that nice soft looking fluffy white stuff to lay on either that you seem to have so much of mate.
Cheers, Vince

The only stuff I'll put away are the rifled shotgun barrels and the ML barrels for the T/C Encores. These only get a short vacation, once spring turkey season ends, it'll be time to start shooting 'em to get ready for next season.

Rabbit season is open until the end of Feb. around here.
Crow hunting will be starting in a few months.
Snow Goose Hunting in the Dakota's in the late winter/early spring.
Turkey in the spring.
We will be heading west this winter for some predator hunting
I will be teaching some NRA Pistol Classes, State CCW Classes, and my DNR Firearms Training Class. This will be my 34th year teaching youth and hunters Firearms Safety. This gives them Certification to hunt in Minnesota, and around the United States.
I'm an NRA Certified Chief Range Officer, so I'm sure to get some calls to officiate shoots around these parts.
Along with that I will be Rangmaster and run two Pistol Leagues which will go from April 8th until the end of July.
I will also be shooting Bullseye Pistol for the rest of the winter, and throughout the spring and summer
.
I will run several ATA Trapshooting Competitions. I believe that the first will be in the spring.
By the time all this is over, Early Goose Season will start, and the cycle will repeat itself.
I used to partake in Finlander Hunting Season, but after I got married the new Sheriff and Game Warden in town, put a halt to that.
Living alone in the Canadian Nortwoods with outlaw cabins built in many different places, inspired me to hunt winter and summer. Snowshoes or Canoes, it didn't matter.
Just checked my old gill nets that my brother keeps for me, this Christmas.
All 500ft of them. They reminded me of the days, or nights, of cold hands and fast exits. Never was caught. Too darn good in the woods to get caught.
Joe Seliga was a hunting and fishing buddy of mine and made me a fine "quiet" paddling canoe for the more touchy stuff. Joe Passed on last year at 94yrs.
Didn't look a day over 65.
I'm sure that I'll find more ways to shoot, but this is all that I can think of this late at night.

Guns are tools, here...
We keep 'em sharp, we take care of 'em...
And we always have 'em handy.
Puttin' one away would be like takin' the tires off the truck 'till the next time I needed it.
Just don't make sense.......................

Always been a part of my lift too, Wild Man.
I have been sloshing in marshes and the woods sense I was born.
I can't remember when I wasn't shooting a gun, and have raised my kids the same way.
When Hope was two, I called up her Grandma to let Grandma listen to Hope's duck calling.
All three of our kids could name any part of a shotgun or rifle by the time they were three. I'm not kidding on this, and my Wife will back me up.
All we have in the freezer is pretty much wild game.
I cooked up a fish dinner today, and tomorrow will be geese.
Never saw life any other way.
If a person knows the woods, can handle a firearm, and Pray to his God, things can't be all bad.
I don't expect other people to be just like me. I'm the odd ball, but tend to get along with most everybody. The people that I don't get along with, I don't worry about.
Two things that we teach our kids, that comes before guns and hunting is God and a good Education.
Without both of these, shooting and hunting have no meaning. I see God in the woods that I hunt in, and pay for my hunting with a good job, that comes with a good Education.
For me, a lifetime of working in the Iron Mines got me through.
Today, a kid can't do anything without College.
Good Shooting
Eric

Rabbit season is open now up untill the end of Febuary, but still need to get out and zero the new scope on my 22LR. Will only take a few minutes in the field the first day out rabbit hunting though.
Still, hope there isn't too much snow on the ground when I start going, cause if some of the snow doesn't melt, I'm going to have to march though 2+ feet of snow just to walk around the field.

Deer season ends this Sunday, but paper and gongs are always in season along with my miserable beavers and feral hogs.

Still have a week of pheasant season left here so will keep the 20 ga. out yet. Then it will be back to hunting rabbits, shooting prairie dogs, and calling coyotes till May when the hard water leaves and I can drag the boat out. Willl also spend alittle time at the range to check out a few more loads for the rifles. Not much shooting in the summer, if the fish are biting.--tr

Moose,
I'm like you, seeing how its open season on Yellow Perch all year long once the ice starts to melt enough that I can go fishing from shore for Yellow Perch, the guns get put away for a few months.

The law in Australia demands that I lock my firearms in a gunsafe when at home. In fact, in some parts when carrying your firearm in your vehicle you must have them secured in a locked metal container affixed to the body of the vehicle !!

Vince....
Friend, those laws of yours suck and no offense meant, but all y'all dropped the ball on that deal.....tho' it's doubtful I need to tell YOU anything about it.
There'd be an army full of pissed off yankees 'round here if things took that turn, all hell would break loose, and only the strong would survive...................
Pretty much sums up our opinion of gun laws, eh?.
