Was wondering on what your thoughts on abortion was? Seems to me is a hot button issue that comes up quite a bit.
I always figured it was wrong, murder is murder no matter when you do it to someone, be it unborn, as a baby, child, adult or older, for what ever the reason (except for war and self defense killing for those 2 reasons is not murder in my opinion, kinda like how hunting and fishing isn't murder, they are things that need to be done to survive).
If I ever got a girl pregnant and she wanted to have a abortion, I'd give her the option of having the child and giving me complete custody before I even thought about the issue of raising the child as a single father, considering I know a number of single fathers and mothers who raised more then one kid on their own, sure its hard but its my kid so I have to give them my all to raise them right. Even if it means little to no fun of my own how I see it.
Mind you I'd specifically make mention once I got custody that she shouldn't come back 10 years from now and expect me to let her be part of my kids life, as she forfeited the right to be the child's mother when she decided she was going to have a abortion.
Thoughts ??

Very personal issue Dimitri.
The subject which troubles me most at the moment is
"Aged Care Housing" for my demented mother.

I studied that very topic when it was legalized in 1973. I found out how an abortion is done. It's dismemberment by vacuum. It is the most horrific thing I have ever seen, so on those grounds alone it is wrong wrong wrong in mho. I don't know if the information I studied is on the net now, but it should be required reading. One booklet that was very informative was called "The silent scream", if you can find it, read it. As you can tell I have very strong opinions on this topic!!!

Yes they mention that on the Internet as the way they "abort" babies who are farther into term cause their little abortion pills wont work at that stage.

Ditto. People on both sides of the fence feel very strongly about issues such as this. I cringe a tad when i see them posted on forums (here and other places) because it is so polarizing... and I've yet to see a meaningful discussion on the subject among people with various viewpoints. It generally always ends badly.

No apology needed. I dont want to infringe on peoples ability and desire to post what they want according to the rules, but I want to also avoid potentially offending people.

Makes sense Dallan, and I'm sure no matter what the views people have most of the membership here wont start "mud slinging".

abortion, well we cant deny the fact it happens, do i believe in it personally, no i dont, do i also believe its the rights of the parents, or enevitably the mothers rights to do as she "wants" then yes its one of those as long as you dont force your ideals on me i wont force mine on you...

But if we gotta go there...
It comes down to a CHOICE....
Much the same as we gun rights advocates say its a CHOICE we make to own guns....
Can we take away someone else's right to make a CHOICE based on our morality?
If we're fighting for freedom, can we pick which freedoms we fight for?

You make a valid point Joe as does Morax.
People should be able to do what they choose. If you don't agree with it forcing your opinions/beliefs on them doesn't help anyone.
Kinda like Animal rights activists are not God nor are they my or your conscience, so they have no bussince forcing their opinion that hunting is wrong on us.
Me making this post, was just cause it seems to have come up alot recently on other forums so I was wondering your opinions on the issue, so I posted mine to start off. I am not trying to change or challenge anyones beliefs on this issue. Only time my opinion on this issue matters is if the girl who is carrying my child decided to have a abortion, at which time I'd try and talk her out of it and give me custody of the kid, otherwise my opinion is worthless.

I feel this issue have similarity to our gunsport / hunting.
There are a lot of in depth discussion and deliberation on both side of the fence.
I accompanied a friend (friend, not girlfriend as in lover) to have an abortion done back in high school.. somehow the poor girl were impregnated by her lover and the ba5tard were unwilling to have anything to do with it afterwards. It cost 3 of my buddies an me 2 months of pocket money to get the deed done by a rogue doctor properly (and it cost the ba5tard a couple of dislocated joints and a kick in appropriate place)
At the time, where I came from (Indonesia) a girl got pregnant would most likely be aborted by the girls father by bashing and kicking them on their stomach until bleeding and abortion happened. Sometime that would result in death of the girl. It is not much in the news because all the time it was done in hush hush... Abortion by doctors are very much illegal and not done unless it is in very private and secret. Other than that, there are witch doctors who uses wire and knives..
There are no option for natural birthing as what Dimitri were saying.
I think if the fetus is created under duress (the girl were raped or coerced) or if the full development of the baby is impossible, either like the society issue I illustrated above or medical complication issue then an abortion is indeed justified.
However, I feel that having an abortion just because the mother changing her mind into having a baby, is sick and should be condemned. It is those that do these kind of things made general society look down at a tool of mercy medicine as a tool of evil purpose.
Viz. back to my first paragraph.. like hunting and gunsport, unless you look into the reason behind the original purpose, it is very hard to place your judgment.

Me liking abortion or not, you and your buddies chiping in and pulling your money together did your friend a favor by having it done right.
Beats "witch doctors", or the alternative if she didn't have it done, cause well there are other cultures who do the "beating abortions" and many times it involves the death of the girl as well as a byproduct as you mentioned.
