Do the maths:
$85,000,000,000 divided by 200,000,000 is $425 not $425,000.

What ever the math may be, Vince is right. A "white collar crime" was committed and the American tax payer will pay dearly.
I would track the CEO culprits down to the four corner of the globe and make them pay. I would'nt just do it to set an example, they would all be examples. A crime is a crime, no matter how you paint it. The congressmen that took money from these companies and even the ones that voted (socialist democrats) to deregulate the banking industry in (I believe) 1995, should be publicly chastised with their names published in every newspaper in the world. Accountability should be demanded by the public.

Think you forgot a decimal point it should be 42.5 cents!
425$ wont do much in a single persons pocket.

IMO all companies that get $ from this bail out ought to hand over 51% of their shares for distribution to every US taxpayer, as it is they that are going to pay for fixing the mess.
What amazes me is that those who caused the disaster are STILL paying themselves huge "performance" bonuses.
I wouldn't trust them to sweep the streets with a broom.

OK, now recompute using the total bailout amount of 1.5 trillion, the estimated true cost for this "revolving line of credit that has no legislative or judicial oversight". Please send my share within 48 hours.
The problem with this mess is that it is complex and that very complexity and incomprehensible tangle of money leads many, myself included, to believe the revolution is getting closer. When regular Americans can't phathom the methodologies and intricacies of basic neo-economics, something is rotten in Washington.
