next can of worms to open . we have no size restriction on trout here and I believe its a good thing. If you catch a small fish and its bleeding knock it on the nuggin and take it home the bag limits for how many you take are more effective at regulating your catch. In the bad old days it had to go back no matter what and I guess that is where the high mortality rate comes from.Dimitri I do agree that a lot of released fish die by bad handling.I guess its a little like ducks or deer tags if you are only allowed 2 to take home you will be selective. Get out and catch a few this weekend I know we will be....

Nah, since most fishing limits are daily, just go back the next day for more if they were too small. Very Happy

where is "here" elvis? out here in pennsylvania there is size and creel limits both! and of course you get the folks out there that just catch and release for the fun of it.. dont go for the catch and release, i personally i feel it is sorta like harassing the fish for the sake of harassing them, you know sharp stick and dog behind the fence kinda thing..

here being south island clean green New Zealand. My wife landed the only trout we caught today. we landed 6 salmon under the 30cm mark aswell and all went back in ok since reading comments the other day I was being EXTRA carefull when releasing so I guess the borax poking did some good.
